Sequencing an SP-12 with an MPC 60

What's the best way to do this? From what I understand, the SP-12 can't send midi pitch data? So if you tune a sound on the SP, and then hit the corresponding pad on the MPC, the sound will play at its original pitch? Is there a way to make SP sounds play back at different pitches in an MPC sequence?

Also, I noticed it's easy to play an SP sound too loud with the MPC pads--or, if you hit the pad too lightly, the sound won't play at all. Is it better to use a midi keyboard to trigger SP sounds? I was thinking about midi sync'ing the SP and MPC together and just doing the drums on the SP, but couldn't figure out how to do it.

How are y'all using your SP-12/1200's? I love the sound, but trying to implement the machine into my setup has been difficult.

The mpc pad only triggers the sp sound, nothing else.
The sound is actually still inside the sp, it should playback just like it was coming from the sp cause, it is coming from the sp. Any pitching you do inside the sp is inside the sp, along with the sound.

sp audio out to mixer/audio interface, control the sp volume from there.
mpc audio out to mixer/audio interface.

Sequencing an SP12/1200 with an MPC is about as simple as it gets. I'll let someone else tell you what to do if you can't figure it out. Hint: Drum/ note numbers are fixed on the SP, but assignable on the MPC. You need one MIDI cable...

I know how to sequence the SP with the MPC. I was mainly just wondering about changing the pitch...Yeah, I know how to change notes on the MPC but I couldn't figure out how to hear different pitches from the SP-12. I'll keep messing with it. I don't really like how the SP responds to the MPC pads sometimes, but that's just me. I was wondering what the consensus was on (1. using a midi keyboard for the SP-12 versus the MPC pads, and (2. doing the drums on the SP and syncing them together versus playing SP sounds on the MPC. I know it's subjective, so it's really a question of what method people prefer to use, what works best for them.

Ah ok, well like Lampdog said, you'll have to change the pitch on the SP using the sliders or MULTIPITCH function (which is similar to 16 levels on an MPC).

Everything is pretty much on the SP1200 forum, but folk here will know a thing or two about using the SP12/1200 with an MPC.
