AKAI S950 / NEW IB-105 Mk2 IS READY (IB-109 Mk2 coming soon)

The new IB-105 Mk2 (for external "SPECIAL" SD card) is ready. It's a the same as IB-105 without digital inputs.

For the IB-109 Mk2 , I started it but it's not finished yet.

Very nice work, as always! I have a technical question. Is it possible to save 99 samples at once with ib-105? I've noticed the floppy will not be able to save more than 64 samples at once, even if there is plenty room on the disk.

It is also something I had been thinking of doing myself, especially as its quite simple without the digital.

If you are building an ib109 I really would Recommend making an additional 50 pin Idc (internal scsi connection)

I already have an 1B-105. Will you be selling just the SD card reader + specific cable? If so do you have a price yet?

An internal SCSI connection is possible but there's no room for a Hard Disk in the s950.

Plus, the IB109 is able to store around 64Mb in a 100Mb zip disk or another SCSI device.

In my opinion , it's better to use external SCSI device.

This is a frustrating limitation and IDK why it is. No matter how small or big your samples are there is only room for 64 samples on a s950 floppy. So you always have to make sure your floppy doesn't have something like 60 samples on it if you want to save a program with 10 samples. If you do it nonetheless the 950 will freeze while saving and your samples are gone.

Thanks! I was starting to think I was the only one with this issue. I usually keep things simple anyways but it'd be very nice if the ib-105 can "save entire memory" on a huge project like 99 samples 99 key groups

nice job with the ib 105. the s950 is my favorite. i could stick to floppies but certainly would try the board if it comes for a good price

Yes. The thing is that I have no problem using floppies with the S950 because it's so quick to save and load. The digital input on the other hand I would love to try out, although I'm not desperate for it (not for the price the IB109 or IB105 sell for anyway) because the S950's analogue Record In is a joy to use.
I just figured if you're making these for cheap I'd have one if it had a Digital In.

And to think I bought a £40 S950 from Gumtree a couple of years ago now with no backlight, and guess what? It had the IB105 HD interface with the digital input. The seller assumed it was standard and didn't give it a mention in his ad. I have used the HD port with an old Atari drive I picked up, but have never tried the digital input. Some say it defeats the object of having a S950, but back in the day, digital interfacing was a revelation.

No wonder op doesnt develop digital in. Very few would use it. Whats the point of having a 950 if you sample digital?
