4 screws on top around pads ?

is there any way to get a hold of the 4 screws on the top, around the pads? one of mine is messed.

exactly what do you mean messed? Are you trying to take them off or have them replaced?

Standard Allen key wrench but yeah I hear you mine are stuck. I'll have to clean out the rust and whatever else is making them stick before I can use the Allen key properly. As it is now I would strip them to hell if I try to force it.

Only thing I don't like on the 4k is how you have deal with those bolts to replace or clean pads and buttons.

the best thing to use in my opinion is a t15 torx screwdriver.a trick i use to not strip the groove is to put painter's tape on the tip of the torx before putting it inside the groove.just make sure there is enough tape that the tip doesn't break through when inserted. hope this helps.

Get a pair of vice grips and clamp around the outside of the bolt head. Turn left and you're good.

@ sirparksalot... no offense but with vice grips you have a higher chance of scratching the paint job and scratching the surface of the bolts. i don't know about you.... but i like to keep her clean. in the long run i'll get a better return when i sell her off.

Instead of going at it from the side, clamp the vice grips on vertically. Clamp halfway down on the bolt and you won't contact the paint. If the bolt is stripped, then it shouldn't matter if the bolt gets scratched, which is why I gave the vice grips trick....it's a last resort, he should be using the hex head wrench with any bolts in tact.

has any one located a good replacement for these four screws? i had contacted MPC Stuff not too long ago and they said they have not found anything. you would think that there was to be a way to locate something that although may not *look* identical but has the same measurements.

Maybe matching the screws up at a hardware store? Its also possible to re-tap the threads to a diffrent size, to fit the screws that you want. They sell everything to do it at home depot.

If wd-40 doesn't loosen them up and they are stripped, last resort could be using a dremel moto tool with a cutting disk and cutting a slot across the bolt so you could use a big flathead screwdriver. Then match them at a hardware store and get bolts with washers.
