Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi all, i've been thinking about selling my MPC2000xl in order to save for an MPC 60... Do you all think this is wise, i hear alot of people talking about the MPC 60, and the fact that it can hold it's own in terms of sequencing. I seem to come accross a few sites that are selling them for a pretty high price.
Currently i've also got Cubase 5.1(looking to upgrade to SX) with a Motu 828 audio interface.
I'm looking to get that 'dirty', 'warm' sound that people talk about with machines such as this and the sp1200, i'd like to get a s950 (however they seem harder to find than the MPC60)
Should i just stick with the 2000xl, or get an MPC 60
what features does the MPC 60 miss that the 2000xl has?

Plus eventually i want to play the shite live.

There are hundreds of features you'll lose by downgrading your MPC, I could not imagine replacing my XL with an MPC60 - lack of memory for a start. If you want a grimey sound, just by a 12bit sampler like S950 to supplement your existing set up.

I would keep my 2000XL definitely. Do what tutor said and buy an S900 or S950, they're pretty damn cheap.

Why not just adjust your sample rate to 12-bit when sampling?....Its the same thing dog. Youd get some GRIMEY sounds.......Just a thougt...

dont believe the hype man. no way dont sell your mpc for the mpc60. geez.

the "warm grimey" call is a speculative one at that. **** the s950, get an Ensoniq Mirage for a quarter of the price! the 12bit converters on that are awesome.

the whole hype of the MPC60 is part egotism for having an expensive and rare item, like being in a club. its a nice box but why pay for a badge... id rather concentrate on making excellent music

watch out as the s950's are increasing in price as people hype that too, its a continuation of a trend to pretend shitty old products are superior to current ones. items like the tr-808 have a lot to answer for :P

for the record id take a JomoxXBase09 over any roland analog any day!

so anyway... check out a Mirage sampler.... it will be up your alley.
