What is your top request for 1.4?

For Akai to create a MPC Ren/Studio Users Forum for registered users only...would be awesome.

The Steinberg Nuendo Forum is a perfect example of this.....

I have just about gave up on the Ren now. I cant use this thing in a 32bit environment. I need the 64bit support. If the 1.4 update is not here in the next few weeks, I'm afraid I'm selling the Ren, and go back to my Maschine.

I am curious, how would you use the R in Plugin Mode?

Composing your beats in the R and the rest in the DAW?

And how would you manage to use multiple sequences? Sequence them in the Ren Sequencer?

The current usage (Sequencer in a Sequencer ) as plugin makes for me at the moment less sense at all.

Running the R beside a DAW however and just use it as sample source / Instrument Rack etc makes , for me, at the moment more sense.

If the Pad layout would be more logically (Pad1 C1 Pad C#1) and the MPC would send MIDI Notes for Drum Programs, the Qlinks would send MIDI CC AND the R would have a localoff option it would be awesome usefull as plugin, since we could just use the HOST Sequencer. That would be much easier to handle than using 2 sequences side by side.

They should have in the audio preview a wave display of the sound or sample u want to use and u can skim through the sample or sound to see what before throwing it in the sample section.

It also lets you tag your sounds, you can adjust the prelisten volume and you can drag and drop multiple files to the MPC.

And the best is, you can use it NOW.

I can only imagine what old boy is like in a extremely pro forum that goes with a product like Nuendo and it's user base.

He wants proof of purchase at the door so he can feel like he's president of some little club. And I'd guess to reduce the amount of times that people like me will call him out on not knowing a damn thing about how modern computers operate. Just peep the threads...

Has anyone said that they're top request for 1.4 is that is just drop already? If I still had a Ren, that would by my request at this point. It's been a MINUTE since it was announced that it would drop in "45 days".

A 1.x.x type of updating that has been mentioned seems like something they should consider. Give the users the bug fixes on minor point releases and save the feature stuff for a major point releases.

It's a totally common method in the industry and customers who know that's how it will be are pretty fine with it, because they aren't held in headlock for as long to just get some bug fixes especially a crippling one that is ruining there whole flow.

Someone will find the above statement controversial perhaps, but I would hope not as their is no down side to operating your updates in this fashion.

My top request is fr them to drop 1.4 so they can focus on 1.5!

Yes, i use it too, and Ice Audio is great.

I've been watching this forum sense I purchased my Ren in November. I understand the 1.4 update is on it's way, but I believe they really need to add Normalize, Fade In, and Fade out to the waveform (liked Studio One). When using Studio One I can go to the beginning or end of the sample to drag the flag to create a fade in or out. If I would like to adjust the volume of the sample. I move the center sample flag up or down. When I go back to the Ren their are to many steps to do this. The "Do It" feature really needs to go away all together (maybe it's needed on the hardware, but not in the software). I would like to see a way to comp tracks in "Sample Mode". I was recording vocals for the first time. I had to record the vocals, get out of sample mode, go to sample edit to adjust the beginning (dead air), add it to a pad and then add to the track. After, I figured out this wasn't the best work flow I purchased Studio One which is working out great for what I do. The "Sample Mode" really needs a lot of work because it seem like you should be able to do, so much more in that window. I believe the Ren is great and getting better. I stopped using it until the 1.3 update (Dual core processor keep freezing) and realized I had to upgrade my computer to an I7, as well. It's working a lot better.

That not Normalize, its a gain change.


When You normalize a sample, the Sample is scanned for the highest peak of amplitude, and once its determined, the whole sample gain (all sample values) while maintaining the dynamic signature, is raised, so that the determined peak has reached 0db. Thats classical normalization.
