I came across that site a year or so ago and made some enquiries. IIRC they want around 350 Euro's for it, ridiculous. Cant compete with the Chinese manufacturers on price, but the quality looks to be top drawer. A real shame that.

Very interesting. I have a 60 and S950. A few Qs:

- Do they have a model that works with the S950?

- I only have a macbook pro. And, I understand it comes with a mini-cd?. How can I format the usb-drive?(Are you guys talking about fromatting the usb stick/memory, or the actual drive?) Or, does it even need to be formatted? (as I previously read that it need Not be formatted, since formatting it turns it into a single 720k disk; whereas installing it un-formatted will give you the correct 99 folders instead..correct?

- I still have a bunch of old project/song floppies for my 60 and s950. How do I transfer them to this usb-drive/stick? I assume I need to dump them somehow onto my computer first, then onto the usb stick. How do I do so (mac programs?). I only have a macbook pro and I also have a modern Lacie external-usb-floppy-drive (which I've never used yet) ..will the lacie drive and macbook work to transfer my old mpc60/s950 floppies onto my computer then onto the gotek usb-drive with some kind of program? I only can help you with the first question.
You dont need to format anything. Replace your floppy drive with the emulator, learn how to use the buttons, done.
This is for the MPC60, not sure if it works on s950..

For what it's worth, MPC60 floppy drives work in the S950, but you only get 720kb capacity per disc. Only way to find out if the emulator works in the S950 is to buy one and try it. If it doesn't work sell it to an MPC60 owner here.

Strictly speaking, S950 talk belongs in the 'other samplers' forum. Lots of developments for the S950 going on there if you haven't checked. Some interesting external storage options...

Thx for the answers to the 1st 2 Qs. The last Q is really important to me though too - how do I transfer all my old floppies onto the gotek flash stick with a MBP and an external usb Lacie drive?

I hope it's possible. I really don't want to have to buy an old pc with an old internal floppy (like for transferring Mirage files). That would be a bigtime hassle than just sticking with the original floppy discs/drive workflow.

I would assume the process is the same as for people who install card readers into MPC60's, only difference is your using a USB stick instead. If you dig hard enough the answers are already here. Similar process as for backing up floppies to a PC/Mac.

You can get a USB floppy drive. They exist. Believe it or not.

I ordered one of these over the weekend. Shipping to the US from HK. Gonna slap it in my 3K as soon as it gets here.

Yes, that's what I said - I already have a Lacie USB floppy drive. But wanted to know does it work for mpc60 and s950 floppies into a MBP? Asking, because I know it doesn't work for some floppies and old vintage gear (like the Ensoniq Mirage - which requires an old "internal" floppy drive only on an older PC); wondering if the mpc60/s950 floppies will have the same problem.

Also, what are the programs for me able to dump mpc60/s950 floppy data onto my MBP using this Lacie USB floppy drive of mine? (I am sure it isn't just plug and play)

Or....do you mean... don't even use the MBP/computer at all, and just plug the USB floppy drive directly to the installed-gotek on the mpc and dump the old floppies into the Gotek's internal memory first, and then unplug the USB floppy drive and then save that to the memory stick from the Gotek's internal memory? (does the Gotek have internal memory, prior to saving to memory stick?)

My fault, I didn't know the Lacie was a USB floppy. I personally don't know anything about 60/s950 disks. I've never used either.

The EDIT you posted is very, very interesting though. I myself have been wondering what else you can use in the USB of the Gotek. Since USB is USB, I'm sure there are many options.

Hopefully, I'll have mine soon but even then, I'll only be able to speak on how it interacts with a 3000.

Can we stick to installing and using the GOTEK in an MPC60, if you want to talk about transfers and disc imaging do your homework or start another thread. It's all here in this forum if you search.

Another experience that i did was, deleting all my saved samples in the USB stick, and copy them again - it works.
This makes me think of all the new (easier) possibilities: Let's say that you want to share a sequence, a song, whatever, with a mate - just upload less then 720k of data, done.

I've searched, and found mixed responses and diff threads all the way back to '03; not many threads honestly on how to transfer mpc60 floppy files into a mbp. Most of the threads are on how to make new discs for the mpc60, and not the other way around. And, then there is the s950.

I'm sure there's been developments. Also found my old threads which have gone un-answered about having to use omniflop.

Simple question and not completely off-topic (since it's required to use old floppies in the gotek)... which is the best program currently to dump floppies from mpc60 and also s950 discs into a mbp with an external lacie usb floppy drive?
