Sending my Ren in for repairs

I would guess that most of the time you're tapping the play/start button with your pinky too doing overdubs, at least I do .....smh

I understand that things can break.. I manage a retail store so I understand how dealing with this stuff works.. Glad it happened during the warranty so I can get it taken care of for free.

The point is this.. No, I don't slam on the button repeatedly, or hit it hard.. Why would u slam on that button ?? Surprised the tap tempo still in better shape cause I do def hit that harder than the rest of the plastic buttons. But back to the point, all I'm sayin is that I've been handling instruments since I was 6, electronic music equipment since 15 or so, and hardware mpcs since I was 17... I'm 24 now, so it's not like I don't know how to treat equipment nicely. I just actually USE it

The fact that this happened isn't a good look for the Akai and the build quality of the Ren. I will say they are handling it well so I'm not hating on customer service , I'm just surprised that the button broke.

And I guess I just wanted to warn people.. Be extra gentle..

What ever holds the button in place is plastic like all the MPCs before it...no? The breaking of a plastic button doesn't IMO sum up the quality of the unit. It is actually pretty good.

Actually it isn't. It's metal. You would have to own one or at least have access to one to speak on it. You continuously post false information daily.

Not sure I see your point. The faceplate of the Ren is metal when you claimed it is plastic. The transport keys of all MPCs are plastic and can break. I personally have never broken an MPC button.

using the foot switch is an option too.but me personally I like to use the buttons

Jah, you're funny... I think Coz is right didnt they advertise a beefed up set of transport controls? Or maybe they're just supposed to look like em. But regardless I also don't think the button itself broke, it's whatever held the button in place. I also have never broken an mpc button, which is why I'm so baffled by this. I didn't even notice it break.. I was just making a beat and then realized it was broken.. Meaning I prob just clicked play start and the button never popped up.

I don't get why u gotta come in here trying to defend the Ren... Ill use some of your own words here.. I'm only stating facts about my experience with the Ren!! I'm not hating on the Ren or you!!

Just facts -

One button already broke and one is breaking (owned a lot of music equipment including hardware mpcs, never had this happen)

Paint scratches off very easy (don't really care but another peek into product integrity)

And there you have it.

The reason I posted this is because I make A LOT of music.. Anyone who knows me knows I work really hard and have a high output when it comes to music.. So I just wanted to give people a look into 6 months of HEAVY use with this controller that's supposed to rival and mimic the 3k in terms of build quality. (1200$ equipment shouldn't have to treat it like a baby..buttons should be Lasting much, much longer)

The buttons on the Ren feel very solid, I'm fairly surprised that you broke them because I really can't see myself breaking them too easy. Obviously anything made of plastic can break with a lot of use and hits at the right angle. I can' t compare it to an older MPC but it feels like solid plastic, not something you'd get out of a 25 cent candy machine.

It's good to know, but I'm not too personally worried. I do still feel that the Ren hardware is above average in build quality comparing to most of the gear you see out today.
