Effects Problem

I've created a drum program and a strings program. I put them both into a Multi: Drums in Part 1, Strings in Part 2. For a few of the drum pads, I only want to use the Mono Delay with them. So, in Program Mode, in the "KG MIX" window, for the drum sounds that I do not want to go to the Effects, I've done the following:

In the "KG MIX" window of the "Program (Drum)" with the Monitor set to "MULTI"
The "Out" field (for the pad) is set to "L/R"
The "Send" field (for the pad) is set to "OFF"

For the pads I want effects on, both of these fields are set to "MULTI"

From the EFFECTS window:
IN field is "SEND A"
OUT field is "L/R" (plan to use 1,2, etc. later)

From the MULTI window:
Drum Program is Part 1
OUT is set to "L/R"
SEND is set to "A"

When I save everything, it seems to be fine. However, when I reload, either programs first-then multi, or mulit with everything, the effects is on EVERY DRUM PAD. I've read the manual and have tried everything else to save the parameters the way that I want. Yet.... Can someone here please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

how are you saving? for example, i have each song as it's own sub-folder. when i save, i use "save entire memory". i've never had an issue with things being mis-routed (specifically fx) upon loading.

also, are you using ak.sys? i'm not sure which, but apparently that resets certain parameters every time it connects to the mpc. please correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm saving to the same folder that I created for it and put all related files into the folder, Also, I'm using the MPC4000 by itself. I'm not using Ak.Sys at all to create. If I do use it, it's only to transfer edited samples from my MacBook (10.6. to the memory. Here's more about my 4K...

ok, when you load how are you doing it? loading whole folder or loading pieces - e.g. - loading multi/prog/etc. individually?

From my first post...

So either all separate then multi...

Loading multi with everything.

I'm gonna try doing it from another folder with the same samples. If it does the same thing, it's possible that the OS doesn't save all of the parameters when a MULTI is involved. This would be strange to me because I never had any problem like this with my Akai S2000. Yet, I do not have an EB16 for it, unless I take out the EB16 card that is in my MPC2000XL Studio-Plus and try it. Yet both of these are different machines that had different engineers of the OS for the hardware that is involved. I can only wish that someone has found a way to analyze and reverse engineer the OS for the MPC4000. If someone needs some help, it is based on the machine code of the StrongArm chipset that IBM somehow had to give to Intel in a lawsuit of sort. In the meantime stay tuned. I might have found a bug that cannot be fixed, unless I have to reinstall the OS again. Keep your eyes peeled in this post, thanks in advance!

i was gonna suggest skipping the use of a multi. from what i can gather, that's the only difference between what you and i are doing. i definitely assign certain samples/pads to certain effects and i definitely have no problems recalling routing correctly.

There's only one problem with that approach, I will not be able to record up to eight different programs (parts on the 4k) at the same time, if I use the internal sequencer or a program like Cubase. I guess I'll just have to keep on doing what has been working up to now: manually correcting the parameters. Else, that's lots of tracks I'll have to be ping-ponging in my Tascam 2488neo, not to mention all of the potential MIDI hangups, too.

I just finished the re-flash of the OS. It is a problem of the OS. I created another program from scratch, another multi from scratch. It did the same thing. This will be a pain in the butt once I'm ready to multitrack to my 2488neo.
