So I just repurchased the Ren for a second go at it. I had the XL but find it cumbersome with the added steps to move it into Live and Logic. So here goes!

I was diss saplings with OS 1.1 but I'm ready to accept it for what it is and get to work. Looking forward to sharing thoughts and working it out on the forum.

Repurchased brand new or used? How much you invest this time around?

I'm curious too, I live in legacy813's town ATM, and didn't see any Rens on Craiglist. Only like 4 or 5 MPCs show up on the local Craigslist yearly at most.

Damn...Could've copped for $900 new...

Also, what is cumbersome about tracking the 2XL? Did you not have the 8 outs?

I could have kept looking for a lower price but since my first purchase was full price and I'm willing to take the savings as is it made sense to me.

As for the XL, it has compact flash drive and is decked out with all blue pads and blue LEDs but the 8 outs don't mean that much to me. I do have the Apollo now so I might keep it just for drums and track thru the UAD Console using the Neve plugs or the Tape emulator.

The Ren offers the easiest mpc workflow and daw integration and after waiting for a few OS updates I felt it was a safe time to run with it.

So browsing the forum it appears many users hate the Ren still... whats the level?

It's still in the box.. maybe I'll take it back and postpone it for another few months...

What's the thoughts there?

Doesn't GC offer 30 days return stress free? If so, try it out. See if it works for you. Don't worry about what people here are saying. If it works for you, it works for you. If not, return it. Don't sell the XL though.

"Sound" advice.

Ok bet, I'll rock with it a few weeks and see if I like it better than last time.

Since you just bought back in, at least give the next two updates a chance. That should take you up to around the one year anniversary. The Rens future should be clearer by then, for better or for worse. The smart money hasn't bought into this thing yet...

I personally wouldn't give it any more time than the return window allows especially if its 30 days and especially if 1.4 drops within that timeframe. If you keep it past the return window and its STILL not up to par, you are going to take a bath trying to sell it used. Especially at the price you paid. Give it at least the return window, hope that 1.4 drops during that time, and see if it works for you. If not, return it. Maybe come back for round 3.
