Is there a mpc 4000 quick start/getting started guide/manual

Anyone know of a getting started manual for the mpc 4000? (Preferably PDF or something else that could be downloaded for offline reading)

I'm thinking about getting an mpc 4000 and would like to get some overview of what it can do and how it does things first. The idea was that a getting started manual probably would make it easier to follow the reference manual.

Video tutorials are fine, but they usually focus on specific tricks and details and at the moment my connection is way too slow anyway.

Yes. That's the reference manual and some addendums. I'm asking for a getting started/quick start guide/manual. Was there no such thing made for the mpc 4000?

This is exactly why I have made a bunch of youtube videos that show the very basics. A real shame that you have a slow connection. I was in your boat a year ago. If you get around a faster computer look up "Ian Canefire MPC 4000". Its all there.

Well I'm actually in my boat literally! Haha.. That's where the bad connection is. Thanks for the tip! My home connection is good but I'll be away for a while and stuck with not being able to watch video clips any time soon. Are you saying that there was never made a getting started manual?

Is this your first MPC? Your first sampler?

There's no quick guide that I know of but I've got quite a few photos of the different screens if you want me to post them here?

One of the manuals is kind of a "get started" but not in the sense of a five page quick overview sort of thing. Its a book of many pages. If you find it you will know because it has the midi implementation chart in the back. The printed out reference manual that I have doesn't have the midi chart.

Actually I have never looked at the title closely enough to see if it is simply one of the addendums but just bound. The book came with my MPC.

An MPC on a boat sounds nice. When you port in St Barts, the Caymans or where ever make sure you watch the videos because they will save you so much time.

Thanks for clearing that. Bummer. Yes it's my first mpc. Not first sampler if the V-synth and software counts. Don't need fotos, thanks. Gues I'll just have to get myself through that dreadful reference manual..

4K was my second sampler. first was a maschine, which i had for about 2 months. just spend time with it and monkey around...you'll find all kinds of awesome stuff. the manual, while not "poorly written", is certainly not the best for beginners who just want to make sounds come out. definitely read it but just having hands on the machine is invaluable. oh, and watch the videos.

And read the Z8 manual too, you already know why I hope.

Most of the MPC4000 docs are awful to read, because they are translated from Japanese by a translation firm who had no clue about music or samplers.

If you want to read something written in English by a musician who knows how to use the actual machine, try the Ak.Sys 2.53 User Guide.
