What's taking so long with updates?

it probably didn't help AKAI any that they announced the ren/studio product line before the software was even developed in the first place... they've been behind from day one.

Akai's team is really small! Prolly why the updates take longer.Publis beta's for us would help out tremendously and we as a MPC community can help make the best MPC ever.

Seriously I hope they are able to expand the team or whatever may be necessary. Pete strikes me as a skilled coder, but this is a massive undertaking, and it just always seems like the guy is under a heavy weight with it all.

And yeah maybe a Spring/Summer 2013 release would have saved all involved a lot of headaches.

Was just thinking, instead of allowing third party plugins that cause the software to crash, perhaps they could have allowed companies to develop special plugins guaranteed to conform. Like Reason has recently done, or even have the software jointly developed with a more experienced multi-platform DAW company like Steinberg or Avid. All this waiting simply highlights strategic errors off the bat.

Not a bad idea in theory, but Reason in the only example and it suits their business model more than anything, although maintaining the stability Reason is known for was a prime motivator too.

I'm kind of with es-k. I have like 6 VST/Host apps and out of over 240 plugs both VST/AU each host struggles with 2-5 of them if that. Usually some synth edit freeware too.

Steinberg provides the standard for VST, VST2, and VST3 already and like es-k said no other firm is pointing fingers in a broad manner at a universal standard that is over 16 years old.

Not saying conflicts don't occur, but statistically speaking the problem is far more likely on the host end.

Oh I don't. The last MPC Akai made was the 4000.

Beta tester are on the regular not allowed to speak...

i m usally a friend of public beta but i m pretty sure that it would not work out here...

a daw is a very complex thing!!
there are tons of things that can cause a problem starting from OS, bad audiocard drivers, dongle problems or just bad coded vst or cracked vst/DAW/OS...

keep your DAW clean just a use a handfull of trusted plugins


if you are not satisfied with your product then sell it or give it back..

i m a longtime mpc user and i m doing things with the ren that i was dreaming back then...from a technological standpoint are we now in the land of milk and honey..

it is not perfekt yet but useable the weak pioint are the vst integration.. if you just working with samples works absolutly.. a few vst causes problems learn which ones and don t use them...a soon an new version comes out go on and test them again...


there is allways room for improving (okay wishes are endless )

i remenber how weak reaper was back then in version 1....but now it can compete with all the big dogs...the cubase 7.04 update was 400 MB the reaper 4.40 full version is 7-13 MB...and it s more flexible then cubase and can nearly do everything what cubase is able to..


i would like to see an expandet Keygroup section going more into the sampler direction..

You are closing every threads in this forum. A lot of people are eagerly waiting this update, we are overhyped, we want it to work, we want to talk about it and we love our Rens. But this forum section is dead because you don't let it live. You gonna close every thread as soon as someone talks about how he wants 1.4 !!

@anyone saying 1.4 is the last update : The MPC Software isn't about the Ren. It's about MPC Studio too. Even if Akai release a new MPC it's gonna be based on the software. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CODE A WHOLE NEW SOFT FROM SCRATCH IF THEY ARENT EVEN ABLE TO FIX SOME BUGS ON 1.X !!!

It must be hard just having one programmer do all the work. At least that's what it looks like. SMH. Come Akai.. open up a studio in silicone valley and fire up this software before it self destructs. SMH.

Pete works days and the cleaner works nights. It's slow going...

Compare the Envelopes of Lives Sampler with the MPC.
For my taste they are useless compared to the MPC.
