Tablet apps

I'm going to keep learning the vastness that is Lemur for it costing so much. but MIDI designer looks easier to do your MIDI assigning once you have a layout.

Lemur is gift and curse status. You bug out like "Programmable X/Y and Slider Friction...Awwww yeah"....."Wait that's another hour of programming....damn....shoot now I'm confused again....

But the tron GUI's are dope and there's 100's of templates up so it's still useable even while you learn it.

Like the old hardware ones it's just really amazing how smooth it all feels. I've never used another touch app with quite the same nuance to the hands on. It's hard to describe but you notice right away.

I look for the longer 20+ minute videos, and when I see it's a UK guy I'm like, YES!

Those dudes cut right to it. Although some American guys have decent longer videos. But often they're really soft spoken guys that are so techy that I almost fall asleep during their pauses.

Touch OSC was well before they stopped making $2300 Lemurs and sold to Liine. The main draw was it had that similar look which I am a big fan of. I think after a while there was a mapping app the automated the assigns to your template a bit. After Lemur I never used Touch OSC again. But it was onlu like $7.99 I think and I did use it for a while.

Lemur added editing right on the iPad and the desktop one links with the iPad so you can follow what you're building. With MIDI designer having the editing from the app too, it makes it and Lemur the current top ones.

So has the SysEx for the 4k been easy enough. I think Touch OSC may have had limits there. And in true In Music fashion the Alesis dock ignores all SysEx, blocks it even I think.

1/3 of the MIDI Standard, hey who needs that? I need a spacer from Alesis anyway to fit the iPad 4, I don't wanna stack up comic book boards that will just make the iPad hotter and it's a great way to mess up your pins if you don't have the spacer.

Working on a JJXL one for MIDI to button, no SysEx there way simpler. I'm going all OCD though and trying to make pages of the whole machine and all screens. A lot of pen and paper used.

I'll probably share if I ever finish it. But I figure nobody here has Lemur probably.

Yeah psr they wanna just mess with app makers who made solutions like they mess with peripheral vendors on the connectors.

But seriously it is dope that this opens the door for AU's on iOS like quoted, and I bet it will be the same cheaper economic model.

Like Sugar Bytes Turnado was $20 at launch. I loved and looked at the VST/AU, it was $129.

THOR FOR IPAD

This is the moment we'll look back on as the point iOS music making really went next level. Propellerhead I will buy every Reason module you wanna put out like this. And the thought that Thor is liberated form the Reason environment and portable is just unreal.

It will do well it's 100% inevitable, and others will follow suit and top desktop apps are gonna come out like crazy leading up to and during iOS 7. And we already had countless original apps of desktop caliber quality.

I'm ecstatic right now.

They must have noticed Wolfgang Palm is selling a lot of apps, Waldorf's new app does look good.

I gotta quit smoking, that's 4-5 $10 apps a week I could buy instead.

Entering month 4 of no THC, for financial reasons...I'll likely never stop given the choice. I smoke additive free cigs at least, but NYS puts like 1000% tax on them so it's $10.50 a pack.
