The updates should be more frequent cause now we're dealing with a Operating System Architecture(s), Hardware Platform (s), and 3rd party software.

Tutor wrote a very good post indicating why its not viable to have more frequent updates. Regardless...the Ren/Studio software is about to receive it's 5th update in 10 month span. That rivals or surpasses other music production apps on the market.

You may not care about the MPC history of updates. But the fact remains, it is still the best supported MPC to date.

I don't think they have a choice. Akai is up against various alternatives for the Ren that are ahead in the game and they are running a rat race trying to stay viable in the market.

They are panting and gasping for air playing catch-up.

Or maybe they're on vacation for a few months and will get to the update later like OS3.0 for the 5000.

In my own li'l cynical opinion - this just serves to show that maybe the Ren Software was not just yet ready for Prime Time. However, Akai couldn't afford to wait to get this to Market. With the promise of future updates, they put it out with the bare bones minimum that would gather enough buzz/hype to get us consumers wanting to purchase. It worked. If any of you are gamers, you have experienced this model many times.

However, I was not forced to buy the Ren; but, decided it was what I wanted to replace a more than capable Maschine. All of this is by choice/decision. I am fully committed to that decision with intent on seeing where Akai takes this. One update at a time...

In the interim, the thing still makes darn good music with 1.3.1. as witnessed by some of the members' submissions.

This is the bottom line. There is a dedicated thread with numerous videos of the Ren/Studio in use making pretty good music.

There will always be unrealistic expectations in Internet forums....

every akaimpc 1000 is build of the same parts

....the ren don t make problems its the users computer that is connected to it. nearly a dozent different os that you have to support...different soundcards... a million different settings....

it s not that easy as you think...

And pulled off daily by the overwhelming majority of the rest the industry. A dozen OS's... :Sigh:

Sure the software itself is totally off the hook.... :Sigh:

Have some of you used software and computers for more than a few months?

That backwards general view aside, yes they have to consider different configs and updates take time and you want them to be stable at release this is a very time consuming process, which is why most companies don't shoot themselves in the foot and give a date even if it's vague like 30-45 days.

Once users know they have to wait they generally do and appreciate the goods being delivered stable even if it took a long time. Akai will just the lesson here to not to commit to a date and just make it worse for all involved.

*EDIT : 2 articles in sentences had typos, I mean what I say, first time always, no changing of text ever necessary.

Yup, which is why they should've stood in their lane. This could've been the PS3. Like a thin MPC4000 laptop size MPC

Why do we all have such fun with that. It almost seems to have a calming effect on the owner's who are waiting like yourself Danny.

Like some kind of Hindu or Buddhist breathing meditation.

For real though I've had Maschine for years and they a long time ago were like "no dates, deal with it". Once the long wait for updates resulted in a stable release more and more the waits almost worked in NI's favor with everybody at fever pitch and really excited.

So I hope this one and whenever next one drops will get all stability issues dealt with and you guys can have that feeling like"they came through last time, I can wait for the next one and just lick my chops in the interim."

As always success to it all for everybody involved. :-D I just post realistic takes, never against any product, save for some Beat Thang issues...

So your upset that Akai discussed 1.4 at Namm and its not out yet? Like Avid discussed Pro Tools 11, several months ago and it was just released yesterday? Or how about Propellerhead announcing Reason 7, months prior to its release? :WTF: :Sigh:

You are here asking forum members if they have used software and computers for more than a couple months? So I redirect and ask you if you have used the Ren/Studio (w/ a computer of course) for more than a couple months?

Enough already alright?

Where am I upset in an objective and rational post that simply mentions how Akai get everybody riled up by giving a loose date, which tends to backfire on software vendors unless they had a very tight long range plan, as in the case of Propellerhead? So it's easier for them to state a release date and make that date.

Not to mention that has nothing to with anything, and it's very common for a major version upgrade (2,3,4,5,6,7 )in case you want cherry pick half sentences out of context as you've been doing lately. And when you're not doing that you try to invent your own insane interpretations of people's posts that the actual point of is clear as day to everyone EXCEPT you.

That's rich from you taking issue that I asked a broad question about people's computer experience when the post prior say's the Ren is not at fault at all and it's all the third parties' plugin vendors fault, and you have for months proved you're own ignorance on the most basic aspects of modern computers.

I don't need a Ren to explain how often you've been wrong On CPU's/Multi Core/DAW host management of CPU's and their respective core/Limits of single core operation....and so on.

Nor do I need to have a Ren to have or state an opinion on updates and how they are generally handles in the industry and some of the ways they are handled.

"You don't have a Ren...I don't want you in my [perceived] clubhouse", You make the whole base you operate from crystal clear every day. You are trying to start ish with me in a thread where I have not said a single disparaging thing about anything.

And you wanna go in on that I asked a general question about people's computer knowledge when on post strongly implies all the issues are down to unique configs and plugins, never the Ren app itself? And as I've said you ignorance of computers has been exposed over and over.

Report me 40 more times if you want...but there's nothing to report just objective posts that you try to twist into a part of your own imagined war with anybody you choose seemingly at random. Although a constant theme is you trying to start ish with clearly knowledgeable people here. The list of users you've done that with it too long to list.
