Recently bought an MPC1000 and not sure if it was the right move.

We want to accomplish 2 tasks....1.add some drums/beats to our performance.
2. Record from our keyboard via MIDI and play back the MIDI file when our keyboardist is gone. Can the MPC1000 handle this? Is there enough memory to save MIDI files of complete songs?

If the MPC1000 is not the right tool, then what is? We are looking for something portable, that can store MIDI and do MIDI sequencing. Easy setup is important.
Thanks

I am no expert but the MPC 1000 can handle your two task and your MPC 2000 should be able to handle you two task also. The only thing bad about the MPC2000 for you would be the weight and size and it lack memory I beleive. It is not very portable.

the midi sequencing just carries information. You will still need to have the keyboard to hear those sounds.

you can record strait into the MPC using your keyboard and save those files if thats what your asking

then assign them to a pad and play them at a later time

without the keyboard ofcourse
