MPC Ren owner needs a little help

Just bought the Ren yesterday of Craigslist. I like it so far. I'm 33 and In the past 6 months I owned my first MPC which was the the MPC 1000. Bought it for $100 fixed it, played with it, saw a MPC 2500 for $400, sold the 1000 on eBay. Now I got the Ren and the 2500. The only problem is that "the Bank" cd is missing. Before I asked akai I figured I asked here first. Is there a chance I can get that if I ask?
Plus should I sell my 2500 to get some of the money I paid for the Ren or keep it. I love the 2500 with JJOS but don't wanna have 2 of the same. I'm new to the mpc, always been a software guy. Thanx for the help and suggestions.

1 - Authorize your software

2 - Call AKAI to see if they will send you the disk. I don't know if one of the updates have the whole download, but it might be there when they release 1.4.

3 - Hold on to that 2500 if you need it for production. These two system are totally different from each other right now. Your 2500 might be more stable that the REN.

Def Keep the 2500 ...
I think you;ll find you;ll be inspired by each others cons to switch between them..
Even use both together...
Thats why i keep mine.. Sometimes i feel like making a beat on the 1000 .. Sometimes on the 5k somtimes on the ren...

Def make sure jjos is on that 2500 too...

your not missing out on much with the bank but i'm sure you can download from the
akai site if you really want it.

i would advise using the ren as much as possible to get a work flow that is good
for you. if you are more sample based with your beats then i think you'll encounter
less problems. the VST stuff has caused havoc for some.

hold onto the 2500 if you happen to do stuff live like beat battles etc it's just rock
solid in that regard.

if its a matter of money you can always get another 2500 theres plenty of them
and you got the ren at nice price.

if you can afford to keep both until you've fully accessed the ren then that would be
the best thing to do.

1.4 is imminent i can feel it

The Bank isn't as fun as Noise, 809 or Wub imo. It has the acoustic instruments but they're not the best. But you should get it with upcoming 1.4 update i think, or maybe you can find it in the files of the 1.3 update already.

About selling 2500, i never owned it so i'm not sure. But i was thinking recently about getting 2 MPC (Renaissance for home serious things + Studio for moving, or mpc 500). I don't think you really need 2 mpc in the same studio. When 1.4 will be released, and if it's up to expectations (i think it will be, they seem to take the time to make it great), i don't think you will need 2500 anymore. Eventually at some point, vintage mode on the Ren will emulate 2500...
If i were you i'd wait for 1.4 and see if i like it. Then if you feel it is ok then sell your 2500.

You can profit at least $300 of that 2500 if it's in good condition.

Thanx for the suggestions. I guess I'll keep the 2500 until 1.4 comes out. I really never thought I would buy one cuz I was never really interested in an MPC, I felt you could do so much with software, but now I dunno. I use to think it was all hype but I like these MPCs. I didn't own or tried the 5000 yet but I really want to get one, I'm becoming an MPC fanatic, I think one day I might own a few, just to own them nothing else. What's weird is that I started from software but now I feel like owning some hardware. My next buy will definitely be an analog synth.
I was able to register the REN on a computer, now I dunno how many times I can register it but I have another pc I want to use it mainly with. What's up with only 4 PCs? I should be able to have it on as many pc as I want. Since I bought it used, I dunno how many usage I have out of it. Has anyone reset a registration on a pc? I wanna do that on one pc I have it on so I can register in my main rig.

I know, being patient is great. I was actually looking at the 5000 on ebay before I saw the Ren on Craigslist for almost half the price, I couldn't pass the opportunity. The guy that sold it to me own 2 Ren, don't know why but I'm glad.

Yeah the 5k has it's troubles, but I've always though it would be fun to have an MPC with an onboard synth.

I think that's were the addiction starts you start loving how different all the models all, but the hands on immediacy is shared by them all.

Great finds/prices. I think it's always good to keep some hardware around, if anything just to change up the workflow. Plus with the 2500 you could perform on stage without a laptop which is always a nice thing to see these days.

That's what I like about the 5k. The on board synth. The features I read are great too.

The bank is okay... But I m not really using it...

I ve keeped my Mpc 1000 but he is collecting dust now ...

This sums it up, even though I own a REN I use my 2500 with JJOS for 95% of my music right now since it's a lot more stable. (And it actually has a midi event edit screen)

Wait 6 months. If you don't use the 2500 during that time then sell it.
