Ableton 9 and Push Controller looks great!!

Another cool thing is the nudge button and knob. You can get a really nice drum groove going quick.

gettn side tracked jahrome style mpc ren is controller, push is controller. hardware mpc I would consider an instrument like you would a keyboard, although keyboard could be considered a controller as well with difference being it having on-board dedicated computer as opposed to axiom 49 being tethered to a computer, so in reality even hardware mpc could be considered controller, but imo it's in an instrument just like electronic keyboard, but technically speaking mufffkn banjo is real instrument, case closed

when you slice audio to midi can you adjust start and end points using push ?

I haven't done that. I have slicing presets or I slice with warp markers. There's user programs that you can make with push so I'm sure with midi mapping you might be able too, I'm not sure though.

my i7 macbook pro is too slow to run ableton 9

heart breaking to find out that i'll basically need an 8 core machine to run it

looks like i'll be sticking to ableton 8 for a while longer

That cannot be possible that an i7 quad can't run Live, even if it's more of a resource hog than 8. Something is whacked out in your configuration I would bet.

Make sure mult-core processor support is enabled in Live's preferences.

It's my hope it isn't and you're just pounding one core hence the issues. I can not imagine that over one version increment that an i7 quad can't cut it.

If this persists for you I will install the 9 demo on my i7 quad and help you find what is wrong. (I'm on 8 and won't have the $ for 9 for a while yet, plus can do Audio to MIDI with Melodyne already.)

multicore support was on but shit was smashing my cpu power. i couldn't do much at all

I'm working on an 2008 iMac with Ableton 9 just fine though I haven't
picked up Push yet cause of my Ren fiasco and the busy schedule on video and photo
work.

ok that's weird, i re-installed mountain lion before too,

it takes about 30 seconds to do a restart now just with a normal hard drive

i was using a few vsts but those same ones now in ableton 8 are running far smoother

i wasn't really using much inbuilt ableton shit either when the cpu was getting cained

I believe you got to use the newest OS for ableton 9 not mountain lion, I may be wrong!

which new version do you suggest i move to?

You re-installed ML before or after trying Live 9? And was it a full clean install or was it just re-updating ML over a previous Lion and possibly before that SL install?

OS X updates are bigger and more far reaching usually then a Windows Update or Service Pack major update as they usually are adding a bunch of new features.

And as much as it's said Macs "just work" the OS often has a tendency to break 100's of disc verifications sometimes just because you shut down and rebooted.

If it wasn't a clean install I might consider doing one if it won't take that long to re-install your apps. Then you know you have clean slate and hopefully your issue is gone or it would at least be easier to figure out what is happening.

@Blue Haze, ML is the latest but Live 9 will run on OS X versions as far back as 10.5 which is two OS's ago.

Sorry I was wrong. But at least 10.8 like the others say. But still on a 2008
iMac duo core it is running fine. I hope your much faster i7 system is straighten out and you are up and running in no time.
