Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I was just messing with an Akai S1000 format sample CD on the MPC4000 (Best Service 62 - 90 Drum Machines & Rhythm Boxes/ Dance Megadrums). Knocked up a half decent beat using the E-mu SP12 kit, while my recently acquired SP12 looked on in disgust.

Anyway, any of you ever load up some Akai S format instruments or drums in the 4K, such a big library out there especially for keygroups/multisamples/drums/ percussion and cheap to buy used on the bay. Any Dropbox action I'm missing out on?

 at the SP's (perhaps rightful disgust).

I'll look at whatever ISO's I have buried here, and take some peaks.....elsewhere.

I use Mediafire with a 200MB limit, but it's not too hard to split an ISO into smaller RARS and re-combine those.

But frankly I don't think I've looked in those folders in like 5 years so I have little recollection of what I have beside a couple drum ones. And as is already implied as far as uploads how would you even pay the license if you wanted too? Send Numark cash in an envelope? At least on the ones the old Akai released.

I have always had some "issues" with the S-series sample disc. Maybe I'm just full on retarded but every time I try one of these discs, all the programs are wonky as all hell. Only one sample in an entire program, 20 or so new program with wacky pad configurations.

I have issues like that on ones I convert in Extreme Sample Convertor. I take the Digital Sound Factory E-MU/Ensoniq ones and translate the Kontakt and Soundfonts.

I'm think maybe a chromatic pad layout might help as the patches are made for keyboards. Or I guess I could just plug in a keyboard.

Been there, tried that.

Maybe you all can help me out. I'll post some stuff up and some screenshots too.

This is more than likely the case.

Remember a lot of Sxxxx library came on the MPC4000 HD, but not third party goodies.
