SMMFH. Pad Lights Already Dead

Pad lights aren't really a big deal for me but for the price I paid for the Ren, you would think that the parts would last a bit longer. I've had my Ren for only 4 months and already the lights on Pad 16 has died. The pad still triggers tho. I hardly have time to play with it and when I do have the time, I'm easy with it. I dont bang on the pads.

Should I be anticipating anything else from the hardware giving in early?

What kind of warranty do you have on this? After 4 months you should be able to get it repaired, in some countries or under some extended warranties you might be able to push for an exchange.

Parts do fail for a variety of reasons, so there's no way to predict if this is a one off or the first of many. You shouldn't be scared to bash your pads though, that's what they're there for. Not sure if the lights would even be affected by how hard you hit, it's most likely a faulty component or a suspect connection. Probably easy to fix it if you had the part and know how to solder, but no point if you are under warranty.

I thought I saw someone here have a light issue that seemed like they were broken but perhaps solved it by uninstalling the USB driver and then re-installing, probably doing hard re-boots of the computer even if the installer didn't give a "please" re-boot.

Just a random thought and me hoping it would be that rather than mechanical failure. Like other posts I've made, I'm just good with computers and have seen everything that can wrong on at this point, I don't own the unit myself.

I would give it a try though to exhaust all possibilities before having to get a repair/replacement.

Good idea Metatron, I've seen some odd stuff occur that a reinstall did fix, so its worth trying that route first.

You can also trouble shoot to see if one or more of Pad 16's backlight died by:
1. Press [PAD ASSIGN] button
2. Press F2 [RED]; Strike Pad A16; Press [Main] button to verify if Pad 16 is Red
3. Press [PAD ASSIGN] button
4. Press F3 [YELLOW]; Strike Pad A16; Press [Main] button to verify if Pad 16 is Yellow
5. Repeat these steps for the [GREEN] and [ORANGE]
