Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst | Bug?

Hi!

I downloaded Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst.

Every time I put it on the Master's Insert Effects, it freezes my Ren.

Anyone else this is doing it to?

I've actually heard about this too, but never experienced it myself. Pretty sure their plugs caused problems with maschine too

So I spoke to the people at Blue Cat, and they're saying: "looks like a Carbon/Cocoa issue. Our problem is that it is impossible for us to reproduce without the software… Do you know if a demo version exists that does not require the hardware?"

So +1 for a usable MPC software without the hardware.

I'm not saying that the software should be able to be used with other controllers (I believe it should in fact be used only with the MPC Ren + Studio), but that it could also be used alone to listen and work on projects and to allow plug-in manufacturers to debug issues effectively!

I tried Voxengo SPAN and it crashed my Renaissance.

I tried http://www.dogparksoftware.com/iSpectrum.html and it doesn't work.

Apart from the $150 PAZ, what else could a Mac user use as a Spectrum Analyzer with the Renaissance?

you can use your ears as a spectrum analyzer lol but i dont think thats the answer youre looking for. I never used bc freq analyst in the ren, ill see if it crashes mine too, im curious

Doesn't the MPC Software demo work fully without hardware, but just emits annoying noise every 30 seconds or so? Can they not test it with that?

Regardless, I would expect Akai to be happy to work with them to ensure their plugin was compatible.

Yes, it's just the standard installer from the akaiprompc.com site. If you've activated it, it won't emit any sound at all until you attach the controller, but if it's never been activated and no hardware detected, I believe it goes for the noise every 30 seconds option.

With MPC 1.4 and Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst in AU format, looks like it's workin'!

Any recommendations for a Spectrum Analyzer? Been looking for a decent free plugin to use with the Ren.
