Sample Chopping Between Ren Vs Studio.

Thinking of picking up one of these units, how much difference do the extra q-links make when is comes to sample chopping speed and efficiency?

And where else, if anywhere does having the extra Q-links really impact workflow?

I'd like to know this as well. I know the software is the same. But from a hardware perspective, those Studio flat knobs are kind of slippery. In fact the, the studio feel was fantastic all except for the flat knobs....they were not bad just not as good as everything else.

It looks shiny, and when people first buy it, they get too careful with it and start touching it real carefully and soft like some precious gold. The first thing they touch are the pads, they slide their hands over it, tap it very weakly. They then press the main buttons and try out the scroll knobs on the Studio. It's like... they are afraid it will bite back.

The Q-LINK knobs are not slippery. When you are actually scrolling it, looking for the selection, getting into your production, you will notice the tiny grooves come into play. If you are teasing it, beginning to make love to it, well obviously you are barely pressing on it and of course anything will feel slippery at this point... even erasers.

Point taken. I don't own one and have not used it with the software. I was, as you inferred, admiring it and teasing the interface while in Guitar Center. Not the most thorough of investigations...which is why, like keanz, I'm interested to know if there are differences with the overall ease of use.
