your favorite sounding 12 bit sampler

gona listen to those sp12 ones tommorow on some nice headphones.

anyone like the sound of a roland/boss sp-202? those are VERY cheap nowadays, but the cards are a tad pricey.

You should send the links to the audio drumloops to that good tech you found... ask what he thinks... then send his findings/recap/recalibration quote to armen as leverage for him to pay for it.
You can open a dispute if he tells you to f*k off.. and go for a refund... personally I wouldn't go through the hassle of a refund...
Worst case if your tech tells you the sp defo needs a recap... and armen doesn't offer to pay the tech bill.... tell him there's a thread on mpc-forums about all of this... and that he is making bad press for himself if he is unreasonable/unprofessional about it.

By the way forat does a mod so the sample monitor sounds.. audible.. as opposed to the noise you hear on a stock sp... I've heard of someone in france finding a tech who could do the same mod..
..Just in case that interests you... would make sense to do it at the same time.. sure your tech knows how to do it... might be a cheap extra.

I've used them all. Hands down, the Emax 1. Nothing on earth is fuggin' with that slept on sampler! If you thought it sounded good in the MPC, resample it on the Emax. It can sound clean or dirty and has enough ram to get the job done.

is there a non keyboard version of the emax 1? i only see the rack version for emax II on the vintage synth explorer site.

Both exist in rack and kb variations.. For emax I, apparently they made about the same number of each.. I think 1500. 3k total

..Advantage of the emax II is they all come with scsi... and they have more ram... up to 8mb... but those maxed machines usually go for alot more than they should... considering the lack of ssm chips..analog filter goodness

Does anyone have any examples or experience of what sampling into the linn9000/forat9000 sounds like? Always been curious about those machines.

sp1200 - makes snares sound like hammers or gunshots, also makes rhodes sound dirty and delectable. makes everything sound like 90's hip hop. nothing else even compares imo.

s950 - great for drums. more metallic and punchy than the sp, works great on some drum loops when trying to get your crispy on.

sp for the default rawness.

950 for the "depth" of features which contribute to the variable possibilities of its sound. primarily, but not exclusively, the continuously variable sample rate...

SP1200 or SP12.

Over the years I have come to realise/find out that most of the tracks that I obsessed over as a kid, as a youth and even now as a man is down to the fact that the music was made with an SP1200. As the years have progressed I keep finding out that more and more tracks that I love, more than any other, were made on the SP1200. It seems I've always been tuned-in to the SP1200/SP12 sound... and still I don't own one

I have an S950 though which I love.

How's I miss this thread?

I think the sp1200 is the apex of 12 bit
but i love all the 12 bit joints.

THIS is one of my favourite things to shape sounds

Never used the sp12(00) but in some occasions I prefer the sp's sound over the S950.
Still love my S950 for what it does. Can't really pick a favourite simply because I don't have enough experience with the rest of those samplers.



BTW, got a nice S950 beat in my sig for the 12bit lovers
