Thanks for the education and advice Metatron. I really appreciate it. What I want to do is to make Logic the master and REN the slave. I just want to be able to, via MIDI, open REN as a VST/ AU inside of Logic, assign internal REN sounds to REN pads inside of REN VST, start record on Logic's sequencer, hit the REN's pads, have the REN's MIDI out data recorded into Logic's sequencer, stop Logic's sequencer, Return to beginning of sequence via Logic's sequencer, hit play on Logic's sequencer and have Logic play back the sequence I just recorded with REN's internal sounds.

I hope that I don't come off as a smart a$$, and I truly love my REN period. It's just that this functionality seems so second nature with today's technologically advanced DAW's, plugins and their respective architectures, that I'm just absolutely and utterly baffled as to why this either can't be figured out with the REN or the functionality was intentionally left out of the REN. If the REN was never designed to be a DAW as some here believe, then why cripple it's ability (it has MIDI ins & outs) to be fully MIDI integrated into a DAW? I understand that REN integrates better via MIDI into PT than Logic but so ******* what? I prefer Logic.
(whew) End of rant.

Pete, if you ever read this, I want to personally thank you for all of the dedication and hard work you've put into 1.4 and making the REN my most beloved piece of gear, seriously. I know you are hard at work making it even better. At some point, would you please address the REN's MIDI implementation into Logic? Again, thanks Pete and be Blessed!

Well, I posted this in another thread at Akai,

I would like to request an extremely basic requests for 1.5 and/or 1.4.1 PLEASE even.

1. Naming tracks from the MPC Ren. When trying to name a track, it skips right pass it. Use to do this all the time in the MPC3000. Of course I can name each track on the software but, doing it as I go/work from the Ren is so or would be so much better.

2. When saving a song, does everything have to stop for it to save? While saving, can it save in the background while you still work? Reason being, I use about 33 different Program sets that I work from so I can have all my sounds ready to go, with different styles for different songs. When saving, it takes forever, everything stops, can't continue to work as I have to wait til it finishes and that becomes extremely frustrating.

3. When scrolling through sounds from the MPC plugins, do I have to hit select to hear the sound every time. Can it be when I turn the data knob or use the cursor to scroll down, that it changes the sound automatically?

Honestly, who beta test this stuff? The average MPC3000 user would notice these things in 1.1 version. Some of hese things are so MPC!
Do I have to look and use the software. Can't wait to be able to do everything from the Hardware.

I use the MPC 3000 everyday. I bought the Ren and after using it for about 5 minutes, I noticed all the "MPC" things it was missing. I promptly returned it. I come to this forum every now and then to check in on the progression of the Ren. A lot of times, I see some pretty advanced DAW feature requests and that strikes me as strange when the Ren, still at 1.4, doesn't have many basic MPC functions. No one uses Step Edit anymore?

:Sigh: Dude

We heard this from you before. Sound like you're heart broken with your decision. You returned the ren after 5 minutes of use, but you haunt this side of the forum like a wrongfully death ghost. We are happy with the ren and nothing you say can change that. Stop the comparsion of old mpc, already. No one cares.

Regarding using the mpc in logic, the MPC plugin is crippled if your productions are over 8 tracks. Baffles me that they limited the plugin to 8 stereo tracks. Why not double, triple or quadruple that? Especially if you want to mix in logic instruments or just do a proper mix in logic.

Really hope 1.5 gives at least 48 virtuals. This is the main reason why I haven't embraced the software. I prefer to use it in plugin mode, but until its integrated better, I'll stick with my MPC 5000 for composing.

I sound like I'm heart broken? Really? I haunt this forum? Really? Stop comparing an MPC to an MPC? No one cares? Do you read the posts in this forum or do you just skim through them? You aren't even making any sense.

I'm sorry, did someone say something? Hmmmmmmmmmm, must be the ghost of christmas past. He's real early this year.

Joke aside, maybe I'm not making any sense, but I do notice you take cheap shot at the ren every chance you get. If anyone post any problem with the ren, you chime right in. So for a guy that's founded no use for a item after 5 minutes of use. You seem to be looking for some kind of closure. The question is: Did you dismissed the ren or did the ren dismissed you? Because, I will take what you saying more seriously if you still own the ren. You don't and it seems you are gear bashing.

You don't have to answer, I'm just skimming through.

im not ranting, but still having lots of random crashes with or whithout plug-ins...while 1.3.1 was very stable on my laptop...

I just realized the same day i installed 1.4 i upgraded from osx 10.8.3 to 10.8.4

Also got audio clicks and pops in ableton live 9 (at 15% of cpu usage) since i upgraded mountain lion.
maybe like someting related to audio drivers/code in osx 10.8.4.?

Is someone experiencing the same issues?

Don't want to de-rail the thread, but I've been having those for a long time with Live 9.
I had them when I was using 10.6.8, and now I'm using the latest OS, which doesn't make a difference. Big live sets are a problem; CPU seems to live a life of its own, doing a lot of sudden peaking, and as soon as it jumps to 50+, I get dropouts.
I didn't have it right away after upgrading to Live 9; I think it started 1-2 months after that.

I did a Vine of it to demonstrate: https://vine.co/v/haKYZzAw7mU

I can't believe Ableton have been unable to solve this.
They're saying it's the amount of plugins you use, heavy sets, etc, but it's not that, and all I can say is I didn't have that before; it simply started happening at some point, and it's definitely not of any updates or changes in terms of my laptop or its OS.

But let's keep this where it belongs:
