Thanks for the education and advice Metatron. I really appreciate it. What I want to do is to make Logic the master and REN the slave. I just want to be able to, via MIDI, open REN as a VST/ AU inside of Logic, assign internal REN sounds to REN pads inside of REN VST, start record on Logic's sequencer, hit the REN's pads, have the REN's MIDI out data recorded into Logic's sequencer, stop Logic's sequencer, Return to beginning of sequence via Logic's sequencer, hit play on Logic's sequencer and have Logic play back the sequence I just recorded with REN's internal sounds.

I hope that I don't come off as a smart a$$, and I truly love my REN period. It's just that this functionality seems so second nature with today's technologically advanced DAW's, plugins and their respective architectures, that I'm just absolutely and utterly baffled as to why this either can't be figured out with the REN or the functionality was intentionally left out of the REN. If the REN was never designed to be a DAW as some here believe, then why cripple it's ability (it has MIDI ins & outs) to be fully MIDI integrated into a DAW? I understand that REN integrates better via MIDI into PT than Logic but so ******* what? I prefer Logic.
(whew) End of rant.

Pete, if you ever read this, I want to personally thank you for all of the dedication and hard work you've put into 1.4 and making the REN my most beloved piece of gear, seriously. I know you are hard at work making it even better. At some point, would you please address the REN's MIDI implementation into Logic? Again, thanks Pete and be Blessed!

Yesssss.......
+1

Well, I posted this in another thread at Akai,

I would like to request an extremely basic requests for 1.5 and/or 1.4.1 PLEASE even.

1. Naming tracks from the MPC Ren. When trying to name a track, it skips right pass it. Use to do this all the time in the MPC3000. Of course I can name each track on the software but, doing it as I go/work from the Ren is so or would be so much better.

2. When saving a song, does everything have to stop for it to save? While saving, can it save in the background while you still work? Reason being, I use about 33 different Program sets that I work from so I can have all my sounds ready to go, with different styles for different songs. When saving, it takes forever, everything stops, can't continue to work as I have to wait til it finishes and that becomes extremely frustrating.

3. When scrolling through sounds from the MPC plugins, do I have to hit select to hear the sound every time. Can it be when I turn the data knob or use the cursor to scroll down, that it changes the sound automatically?

Honestly, who beta test this stuff? The average MPC3000 user would notice these things in 1.1 version. Some of hese things are so MPC!
Do I have to look and use the software. Can't wait to be able to do everything from the Hardware.

Marc

Marc I agree ,I have submitted these request ages ago. As a Beta Tester we get it .we got all of you guys back!...believe that!.....but WE DONT HAVE CONTROL OF WHAT FEATURES GET ADDED!!!!!!peace

What does this all have to do with beta testing? Beta testers are not developers and have no access to actually add desired features to the software/hardware. Everything you listed here has been brought up since 1.0. Beta testers are users just like everyone else. If beta testers could just add features at will or have every requested feature added just by simply asking, this thing would be flying right now. But obviously that is not the case. Any type of feature adding or lack of features is strictly on the development team and has nothing to do with beta testing!

Delete Unused Samples will only preserve samples which are mapped to a DRUM Program.

For example when you load a sample into a Keygroup but have NOT mapped it to a DUM program , the samples will be deleted .

Hello,
I have created a simple Keygroup Program
It contains 3 Samples to 3 Zones
There are NO LFO Modulations.

Even if I set my Buffer to 1024 Samples I get 100% CPU load ?!

Try it yourself:

[EDIT]
I managed to narrow down this issue:

The source of this CPU Hog are the 3 used Filters

Yeah but now they are a CPU hog when used in a keygroup

Fanu wrote:Don't want to de-rail the thread, but I've been having those for a long time with Live 9.
I had them when I was using 10.6.8, and now I'm using the latest OS, which doesn't make a difference. Big live sets are a problem; CPU seems to live a life of its own, doing a lot of sudden peaking, and as soon as it jumps to 50+, I get dropouts.
I didn't have it right away after upgrading to Live 9; I think it started 1-2 months after that.

I did a Vine of it to demonstrate: https://vine.co/v/haKYZzAw7mU

I can't believe Ableton have been unable to solve this.
They're saying it's the amount of plugins you use, heavy sets, etc, but it's not that, and all I can say is I didn't have that before; it simply started happening at some point, and it's definitely not of any updates or changes in terms of my laptop or its OS.

But let's keep this where it belongs:

I see...thats so strange...never had someting like this really, untill few weeks ago live 8 before and live 9 after used to work great.

Now i discovered that not using in realtime the complex pro algorithm decrease 90% of click and pops.

just had it on few samples within the cpu meter at 15/18%, this caused a cascade of clips, pops, audio dropouts, etc... and untill 4 days ago the same project use to run good :hmmm:

Sorry fot the O.T.

Dragging the keygroup-width with the mouse is no longer working properly either.

try it

Ok I have identified the source of this Keygroup intensive CPU usage:

This only occurs if you have enabled a Filter on a Keygroup and have set Sample Playback to one shot.

So make sure to set playback to on-note when creating keygroups.

Bouncing separate track still groups all the plugin sounds together?! I thought they would have fixed that by now. :fku:

And it doesnt carry grab the effects either.

Lucky you mine crashed today quite often in standalone mode without any 3rd party plugins

My thoughts on 1.4 is still not convincing to fork out $$$ to buy ren, based on feedback here durability of it also raises concerns
