mpc 2000 classic error

Just got the 2000 with the flash card reader..it came with a 16 gb flash card with the os on the card. the mpc wont load the os and keeps saying insert mpc 2000 dsk. does this mean my unit is bunk or the flash card maybe? any help will help lol

I wasn't aware that the 2000 classic could even make use of 16 gig cards.

How is this CF card reader connected to the mpc? is it an external one with a cable that goes to the back? is it an internally mounted one that sits in the floppy bay?

me either...maybe thats why its not working? i thought it would be 2gb like 1000 i just traded. but its mounted into where the floppy would normally go.

nah but i sold it to my homie...so im thinkin worst comes to worst...i get the 2000 os and put it on the 2gb thru the usb on the 1000 and use that card in the 2000...im thinkin the 16 gb mem card has to be the reason because the dude said the machine was in great working condition, which it seems to be judging from the outside.

ya.. you could do that.. or if you had a multi card reader to plug the cf card in..

by the way... when you get that 1.72 os from the akai website, make sure the thing is unzipped because it's compressed for easy download and that wont work in the mpc. you need winrar or something like that to extract it.

I would format the 16GB card in the MPC2000, then transfer the OS file onto it using the MPC1000 as a card reader, or a dedicated card reader.

Does the MPC2000 still have the floppy drive, to load the OS from, to allow you to format the 16GB card in the MPC2000?
