This is true in the sense of there is no magical fairytale stuff going on with swing on any hardware/Computer sequencer. However the feel of swing is affected by the sequencers clock resolution. An MPC60/3000 clock @ 96 ppqn will sound a little different from something at 1096+. Essentially the swung notes on a lower res seqeuncer Vs the higher res one fall on positions that are at slightly different. Its interesting the MPC 4000 has a low resolution mode. Those original Akai boys knew what they were doing.

+1 for swing from the hardware controller -
and it should be in real time. Whilst were at it let us change the resolution of the internal clock as low as 96 ppqn. At least in stand alone mode.
