is there going to be a jjos for the mpc5000? I find the workflow kind of slow and it gets buggy.... would I be better off going with a Renascence or is are there easier to use mpcs, well quicker!

Never, ever.

1000/2500 JJ exist because he had the OS source code to begin with. Unless Akai gave him the 5k OS source code (and they never would) it cannot happen.

If you want to stay on hardware and can lose the synth, bigger LCD and extra q-links just get a 2500 with JJOS-XL.

Renaissance, all the info that's out their is here on the forum and you can talk to dozens of owners. Maybe you might find a 2500 slow too, (5k bugs aside, some stuff does take longer on hardware MPC's) but the computer hybrid Ren might be a faster workflow for you.

if you want JJOS, why in the world would you get a renaissance instead? :hmmm:

Just figured its their latest model maybe improved?

I got the 5000 by trading a maschine

And I never messed around with jjos

The only beat making software I'm used to is imaschine beatmaker and Cubase and learning protools but I find it a slow workflow

Will the software be a big improvement over the 5000?

I basically paid 340 for mine as I did a straight trade for the 5000 with my machine mk1

Would upgrading the ram make the 5000 run quicker? Or is it hair for sampling?

damn... someone must have REALLY wanted to get rid of that MPC5000... i knew it was buggy, but not so much that someone would trade it for an old maschine. that's actually pretty funny...

I use mine everyday....only thing I've noticed is that the loading from the disk is slower than other mpc's.....other than that, I don't have problems making beats on it.

Yea I know right plus a 4gb card midi cables and $70 cash on top

The main reason I did it is because you don't need a computer to use the mpc

But just found it a little slower to use ... Are they all like that? If I upgraded the ram would it be quicker?

Not at all I like hardware and software having both would be dope

I guess I just have to spend more time with it the only irrating part is the saving and loading I gotta get used to that more

No the 192MB RAM really won't make the OS run faster really. Even on a 4k when you go from 272MB to 512MB it only speeds the the loads a minute little bit.

I find myself using software more than my MPC's for how much quicker I go on it.

But if you're in the right frame of mind and keep your flow centered on what an MPC does best, it can be pretty quick too. If you have a decent soundcard and CPU it's not too hard to use your computer as like a rack FX unit with an MPC.

Better FX is the main reason I go computer most of the time. I like some of the 4k FX, but generally the computer stuff I have is way better. I do all my chopping in Recycle too, I always choose speed.

When you compose your beats do you finish it on the mpc than transfer Indv tracks or do you monitor it ??

You can sync the mpc to the sequencer of the daw right with the USB?

at this point you're asking questions which can be answered by a glance at the manual... the USB port is for nothing else other than transfering files.
