Hi there, im a new MPC 1000 user, a qiuck newbie question ab

I've updated my MPC to JJOS Free, is it possible to update to OSJJ 3 from the free version? do i need to pay anything for it?

Yeah it's like $123 or something for OS2XL/OS3, and you get to load the legacy OS1 and OS2 as well for your purchase price.

You can load any of those, although read the instructions on JJ's site, some of them have to be loaded from a specific other OS due to OS file compatibilities.

You can use all the the features before paying but save is 100% disabled. JJ Free you can save, and has the Global Program Edit, so even the free one is major step up from the Akai OS.

...but i hardly recommend jjos 2xl....which is a bit more expensive....almost 100 bucks...

but that makes your mpc 1000 a complete new machine....with ALL possebilties you can imagine and way beyond....

and you can install it straight away from the free one.....

don't hesitate...that money is a damned good investment.....

for the moment i'll stay with the free version to get to know the machine better and than i'll probably switch to the other OS around...

if you're just learning, i'd go in order... start with the free version... eventually upgrade to OS1, and then if you still need more features keep upgrading... personally i've been using the mpc1000 since 2007 and JJOS1 does everything i need.

There's a comparison chart on the website that makes it real clear what each OS offers and in rare cases what you might lose to gain one or more features. Usually pretty good trade offs.

It won't take long using the MPC to be able to use the chart to see what's worth the extra investment to you. Most of the features as you go up the different OS's are things that you'll probably think of using Akai or Free JJ and say to yourself "it would be great if I could..." The XL/OS3 versions the answer is usually "sure we got that, just toss some $ over to Japan".

And the old ones are no slouches either like Crossings mentioned.

...but.....keep in mind, there are some functions you'll never gonna miss because you got no idea what to do with it....

and you stress yourself with work arounds.....

if you get it straight right from the start, the learning curve is pretty much the same and you get used to the real thing right away.....
