Well I'd rather not close it, as I feel there's plenty of interesting discussion to be had. But people need to be constructive about it and avoid the usual knee-jerk trolling comments.

I don't understand why everything is so secretive...I mean, come on Akai free the Ren already...Only one way of Vintage mode to be applyable, Not MIDI mapping for using the Ren as an MPD...etc etc
I don't get it!

even if you not load the MPC software its locked somehow due to each Knob will submit Notes instead of CC's. You can use the QLinks to play notes by just touching them :D

If its the file dates youre getting at, that doesn't matter. I brought that up as well. The version number of the plugin file is what seems to matter I believe. Also, the plugins can be updated without changing the version number or file date.

And this is the bottom line for me. We have had this discussion in the forums numerous times. I was never confused by any marketing. And whether Vintage Mode is only hardware, only software, or a combination of the two doesn't particularly matter to me. What it actually sounds like is my concern. And I can't recall a single post/thread that indicates anyone is disappointed with the 'sound' of the Vintage Mode. The Ren/MPC Software sounds great.

Apparently they want everything to sound as if it were sampled from vinyl

You are most likely talking about the SP 1200 emulations. The MPC 60 and MPC 3000 emulations don't add any noise or artifacts.

Seems you don't quite understand the meaning of "vintage" or what analog equipment sounds like.
