Here is the official info: Avid.com

Other details known so far, in no specific order (there may be even more at Avid's official event tomorrow):

  • Now a 64-bit application.
  • "Sample Accurate" Offline Bounce (approx 150x realtime)
  • Avid Audio Engine (AAE) replaces DAE
  • AAX and AAX DSP is now the "flagship standard"
  • RTAS and TDM no longer supported, as expected
  • **Track Freezing and/or Bounce and Import to Session
  • Dynamic Plug-in Procession - saves CPU when there is no audio/regions
  • Improved Workspace browser with contextual search system
  • Global Plug-In Bypass shortcut and other shortcut improvements
  • Pro Tools 10 and 11 can coexist on the same system
  • Automation time-stamping for accuracy
  • Automation now allowed with "record ready" tracks or while recording
  • Separate input and output buffer — allowing monitoring with plug-ins at low latency
  • Avid Media Composer's Engine integrated and broader support for video interfaces
  • Support for Apple computers with "Retina Displays"
  • Improved Higher Res Metering - including K-System and other standards
  • Additional Metering - plug-in specific gain reduction metering, independent Master metering settings, multiple "assignment mode" send mini-fader meters, **clip meters on all versions of DAW

**Wait until tomorrow or for someone else to verify the specifics of these items.

I was about to start bitching but realized Pro Tools 10 is already 17 months old....cool. Guess I'll update when it releases.

This comes at the exact right moment for me! :-D I decided last week that I was going to buy Pro Tools, and someone told me to just hold on with it just a couple of weeks to see if the new version might drop. And it f'''ing did!

However Avid should be ashamed that it has taken this long for them to catch up with other DAWs on some features. Like off-line bouncing... wth!?

I'm looking forward to work on this now tho =) looks solid!

I do some post work for radio, and this is exactly why I did not ever use Pro Tools to do that. I would have to sit there and listen to 45 minutes of audio because it only had online bounce.......looks like I can officially retire Logic now, which is nice.

11 still doesn't support HUI anymore??
By Undertow Thu May 30, 2013 10:55 am
I'm not sure, sparq. There seems to be mixed answers. Avid has it listed as "untested" but not as "incompatible". That could imply that it will still work but that Avid won't thoroughly test it and won't provide support for any issues that may arise with control surfaces that support it. You may have to wait until PT11 is available to be sure.

If you buy PT 10, avid give a gift : offer PT 11 for the news customers, in France, i ask to my shop, and tell him it, i have bought PT 10, i wait my new version :-D with a new ilok !!!

Lack of offline bouncing has been due to the way Pro Tools operates.

It has developed from a real time mixing environment, where the plugins ran on dedicated DSP chips as real time audio processors, and the mixing engine operated on audio also in real time.

Also, coming from a pro studio background it has been about also incorporating external effects processors into the mixing workflow, which is not possible with faster than real time bouncing.

I'm not making any excuses for the time it has taken to implement faster than real time bounces, just some observations from having worked with it for a while.

I'm just passing on the news to those interested. It ships (or is available for download) today—assuming you can even get it on your iLok with the debacle that's going on.

More evolutionary than revolutionary.

I transferred licenses onto over 25 iLoks a couple of weeks ago, works fine.

You sometimes just have to wait a while before it looks like it is actually doing anything, so just be patient and don't pull the iLok out before any process is complete.

I would guess that a lot of problems are due to removing the iLok while transfer operations are in progress.

It's possible that some people could have had issues due to removing their iLoks but the issues I had and some I witnessed through my direct peers weren't due to user error. This seems to have been a recurring theme, even admitted to by Pace.

The problems I'm referring to were with the new iLok License Manager and their server configuration itself. While it didnt affect everyone, you likely just weren't impacted or used it at the tail end of the technical issues. It has been about a week or so since they started solving the issues and releasing new versions of the Manager. Even after heeding the warnings and trying to miss the first wave of user woes I got bitten by the issues also — When redeeming new license assets some already on the iLok were mysteriously converted to demos. This particular iLok never leaves my USB3 port, so my personal issues weren't due to removing the dongle for sure. I was hesitant until now to use any of my others. However, it's since been fixed.

It seems relatively safe now—I've even used the Manager heavily this week without issue also—but just for reference here are some of the issues that Pace publicly admitted they previously had to address:
Pace wrote:
iLok License Manager errors that should all be gone

Unable to Sign In (you may have to wait a little bit)
Internet connection unavailable
An unknown error occurred
An unexpected error occurred
An unexpected authorization error occurred
License not found on server
Cannot activate to this location (only when you really cannot).
Session you were using is no longer valid

The Sync Repair Operation will fix the following types of issues:

Protected software no longer functions or DAW doesn’t see iLok
Licenses missing from iLok or User account
Licenses converted to “Temporary”
Unable to synchronize iLok or fails to complete
Synchronize removes valid licenses from iLok
Unable to activate and deactivate licenses
Unable to transfer license to another user
Transferred license fails with multiple authorizations error
Expired Trial/Demo licenses cannot be deactivated/removed from iLok
Note: Sync/Repair now automatically deactivates expired auths from the iLok back to the account. This is an interim fix to get rid of expired licenses that can get in the way of a real one on the same iLok2 when using Interlok-based software. It may cause some confusion, “Where did it go?” or “I had 50, why are there only 46 now?” We are not done fixing this but it will help.
Locked Group (Bundle) seem to split across iLoks

A Message From Allen Cronce of PACE

Hello. This is Allen Cronce, President of PACE.

The past week has been one of the hardest weeks of my entire life. As I read through this thread, it honestly pains me that our mistakes have caused so much frustration and interrupted workflow. I haven’t been able to sleep and can barely eat. I know I should have addressed you all sooner, but I feel such shame for how this new launch has been executed, that I've been focusing our efforts on getting to a resolution, so you can all get back to work. I've never been in a situation like this and I realize our customer relations skills have been severely lacking. If you read on, you will see how I plan to change this.

I started PACE because I am passionate about technology. I know the amount of work that guys like Michael Carnes and Steven Slate go through to develop software products and I truly believe that these software products need to be protected from piracy. PACE has had a long run without many hiccups, which is something rare for any technology company.

That is why this past Monday I was shocked to see that the software that we at PACE have all been working on so hard for the past few years was launched with such unexpected technical errors… errors that have caused some users like you to be troubleshooting rather than working. I cannot tell you how upsetting that is to our entire team.

Even though its introduction has been rough, I am still very proud of the new iLok License Manager. The sole purpose of our new product is to make the iLok system better for you, the customer. We will get it working. We will make this right. We will prove to you that we are good people, honest people, with a good product that has the best intentions: to protect your investment and to protect the software industry's hard work.

Although our support team is working around the clock, I plan to improve our customer support so we can help you more effectively. We're going to update our website with more information and alert new users of the potential problems… something we should have done earlier. I was just optimistic that we'd have a solution earlier, but this was a mistake and I'm truly sorry.

We will continue to work with customers to solve issues they have had with the new iLok License Manager. We will maintain a presence here and post updates of our progress.

Once again, we realize we have let you down. The best thing we can do at this point is continue to focus our efforts on solving any outstanding problems to make sure our customers are up and running. You are going to see some big changes at PACE.

Allen Cronc
