Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I had this basic beat done with terrible snares. So I layer two extra snares, one on each already existing snares, but then the sample stops occasionaly. Iirc the 500 can play at least 16 sounds can play at the same time and I only count about 5-6 atm. Cant figure out how to fix this. If I remove one layered snare it only stops the sample half as often, but always at the exact same spot. Any ideas?

All stuff is in the same program. All drums are "poly" in the mode->program. The problem is that it seems like the drums mute the guitar. The guitar is mono an with mute group but the drums are neither

Edit: i noticed that it doesnt happen if I mute any of my 3 drum tracks.

then separate the guitar and drums into separate programs.

you can't just make one program for EVERYTHING and sequence everything on 1 track. not without some issues at least.

Are all the samples on the same program? Just create one program with all the samples you need and name it.

Also check your mute group settings, maybe they have the same group number.

ALso, you need to set the sequence before you stot recording, sometimes the tail of a sample will float over to the beginning of a bar and silence the sample that suppose to be playing at the one. Set it in Other.

some mpc 500's just do that..

since i got mine a few years ago, too much bass/too many of anything drum related will end up stopping the sample dead in its tracks..

theres ways around it, sometimes turning hats especially to mono from poly

as well as cutting the sample so instead of 1 loop for example you might have to stitch numerous parts together, you know?

mpc 500s pretty much suck. ive had mine for a while, the beat in my signature is made from it etc, its the only one ive ever owned, but im looking forward to getting a 1000 or a 2500 for numerous reasons.

ive always found that layering on my 500 sounds like complete shit, it basically limits me when i make beats and ive begun to really hate it lol...
