Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I am having trouble getting sound when connecting this Numark TT-200 to the Renaissance.

I am running an Apogee Duet with the L & R outputs going directly into my monitors. The Renaissance is connected to the computer thru USB and I have no 1/4" cables coming out the back....is this where my problem is?

The turntable is connected RCA to RCA - I can see a level on the Rec Gain with the Direct Mon to the left but dont see any movement in the Left and Right meters on the LCD screen however nor hear any sound....

Any help would be great thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "trouble" getting sound. Does this mean you are getting some sound? or getting no sound at all?

If the following list is correct:
1. Apogee Duet is connected to comp via USB
2. AKAI Renn is connected to comp via USB
3. Both are turned on
4. RCA cables from turntable mixer is connected to the apogee
5. getting no recording and no sound

Then that means your input (recording) is set as the Renn. Which means, the Renn is waiting for you to put some sound into it. But as you mentioned, you are using the Apogee Duet as the input. This then means, you're input hardware is probably not set as the Apogee. Set your input hardware as the Apogee Duet.

Your output, as you mentioned is the APOGEE duet. Which means, the Renn is not dedicating itself to act as a sound chip.

All DAW (well.. majority of them) you can selected individual sources of where you get your inputs and where it outputs to. In extreme cases, you can have a million sound interfaces (apogee's, focurites, avid, etc) connected via usb to a single computer, and use 1 as an input, 1 as an output.

Example:
1. Focusrite Input, Apogee Output
2. Apogee Input, Renaissance Output
3. Avid Output, Focurite Input
OR
the usual setup:
1. Focurite Input, Focurite Output
2. Apogee Input, Apogee Output.

Not seeing any movement in the Left & Right means:
1. Input hardware is not set to whatever you are inputting the sound through (Apogee or Renn) - adjusted in the MPC software
2. Your input gain (or mixer gain) is at 0. - adjusted in MPC Software or MIXER

In general, when you are testing out the new instructions on top, keep the levels all at 15% to 50%.. just enough to hear it slightly.

u don't have a mixer?

How is the REN connected to the Duet? if the Duet is connected to your monitors and the REN is acting/ set as your audio interface, then you need to get audio out of REN and into/ thru the Duet by connecting 1/4" cables from the REN's line output to the Duet breakout cable's line inputs. On the Duet, the big volume knob acts as a selector switch by depressing it. Each time you depress the knob, you cycle thru the different inputs, mic, instrument (line in), etc... Ensure that the Duet is listening to the correct input by selecting instrument and then increasing the input gain (turning the knob to the right while instrument is selected). This should work if all of your other connections are correct. If you've owned the Duet for awhile and are more than familiar with its functions and how to operate its accompanying software, please excuse my post. If not, I hope I helped. Happy sampling and beat making with the "R". :smoker:

Alternatively, in your computer's settings, you can set the REN to audio input via usb and the Duet to audio output as long as the Duet is connected to your computer via FireWire.

the reniassance is not directly connected to the duet - it's connected to the iMac USB. The duet is connected to the iMac FireWire.

For some reason my input signal is really really low from my turntables but the input gain on MPC maxes out to red even at low levels?

If your signal is hitting red on the MPC Software Sample Record meters, then the signal is not really really low from your turntables.

Are you actually getting strong looking levels on the level meter in the Sample Record mode?

If so, in what way is the signal really really low? When you are listening to it in Sample Record mode, when you assign it to a pad and play it back, etc.?
