Had the same problem on my Pad #10. Sent the Ren to Akai. it took about 2 and half weeks to be fixed. Now i get this error message everytime i launch the software "This MPC controller was not the one you registered your software with". Then under MPC preferences, hardware, show hardware, the serial # is blank. Just a heads up.

Sounds like they either didn't repair yours and just sent you a new controller (or 'B' stock etc), or they've just replaced the main board entirely (assuming the hardware ID is stored or calculated from this). I doubt replacing an LED or pad sensor is going to change your original hardware ID, however I am not sure what they use to calculate this.

I get this all the time as I'm continually swapping my Ren and Studio on the same computer. It hasn't caused any issues. I suspect your serial is still stored in your MPC.settings file. If you really wanted to fix this, you'd probably need to delete the MPC.settings file and next time you launch the MPC app it will ask you to activate again.

Thanks Tutor. Its not causing any problems that is can see, but the pop up error message is annoying at the least. If doing what you suggest would i be losing 1 out of the 4 software installs that are giving?

Yes but you can get a hold of tech support and have them reset if you need.

yeah i'm thinking to just ignore it for now. its manageable if you know only 1 is bust.. if it happens again then i'll have to send it in.

thanks for the headsup!

Did this ever fix it's self? Or is it still broken? This is what mine was doing and it just started working again after a while.

Crazy... makes me think it's a firmware issue/bug.
