Instructions for opening the MPC are in the back of the MPC 4000 Refrence manual. Available for download from the AKAI web site.

Also, check in the 4K newbie bible for instructions for installing the ADAT board.

They tell you to put a bar or something to hold the "hood" open while you are installing things, but I can never find anything that is the right size and sturdy-ness to hold the hood open.

I end up holding it open with my forearm and working mostly with one hand while trying to use the other hand to help. Im scared im gonna screw something up one day. Thats why I am going to buy my ADAT board and my SPDIF board at the same time as well as upgrade my ram to a full 512 megs so I can install everything at once and never have to open it up again. Unless for some reason i decided I need the 8 out analog board one day.

Why couldnt Akai have built in a little swing up bar like car hoods have inside them.

Use a drumstick or a ruler.
