Tutorial sub-forum?

This is just an idea...
But I think there should be a sub-forum for Tutorials/ Tips & Tricks for the Ren/Studio.

Since it's a fairly new product and a different approach to MPC's it'd be better for people who are new to it.
Be better since this section is kinda just getting out of hand with the topics
There needs to be a place where people who come here to learn and not have to read 50 pages of people who don't even own the product complaining about it.
It should be regular/Submission based (with Mod approval) so it doesn't have repeat posts or stupid sh*t posted and what not.

For example, that "Using Vintage Modes on Single Tracks" topic is a good post to be in there.

Just an idea though.

How's about people just stump up a few quid for Tutor's book if they want decent tutorials.

Indeed, and don't forget it's also 50 pages of people who DO own it with valid complaints in most cases.

I agree with you 100%. Would certainly like to see a "User's Sub-forum" where we can post threads/tutorials to learn from other Ren/Studio users. Don't see why anyone wouldn't want this.

Or just head a thread with "TUTORIAL:", "problem" solved.

It won't be the cloistered exclusive little club that you won't stop going on about, but so what? The end result is the same.

If you want an exclusive club, go create your own forum, a public forum doesn't exist to bend to your whims.

And for clarity the three posters recommending Tutor's books are in no way trying to troll the OP's wants, Tutor's books are simply that good as to be worth the investment in every case. And if you need/want something thorough spending $20 or so is hardly the end of the world.

And again those who are able can simple post with "TUTORIAL:" clearly in the heading, perhaps the best ones get stickied...there's really no roadblocks here at all. Rather than worry about making a closed club, maybe just make some tutorial threads and clearly label them as such. Dead simple.

I'll sort something out regarding end-user MPC Ren/Studio tutorials soon, just trying to think of the best way to go about it. I have a few cool ideas though. But interested in what you guys are thinking.

Plenty of options, but a dedicated sub-forum isn't one I'm looking at ATM, a sticky is more likely short term. I don't want to fragment the forums with too many little sub forums, I'd rather have a thriving and bustling main forum for each MPC.

But if you have an end-user video tutorial that you want to post up on the forums, for the moment, please post it up in the Video Compilation topic which I hope to eventually split into two topics; 'General' and 'Tips & Tricks'.

If you have a written tutorial, post it as a dedicated topic with a prefix as suggested; 'Tutorial:'. If we get enough, I can merge into a sticky, but based on what's happened in previous years, written tutorials are few and far between, so I suspect most will be submitting video tutorials.

I don't know if the 50000 character limit is enough to write a thorough tutorial

So many of you guys yourself included Airyck already explain things terrifically, minor tweaks to the layout style and bam, tutorials galore.

Great idea. An opportunity to fill a void. There is no dedicated tutorial sub forum here. There was one supposedly being created by other forum members but they were/are going to charge a fee.

To set up a site...the start-up costs is actually very cheap (software is free, domain/hosting cost no more than a pair of Jordans annually)....only time would be needed to maintain/moderate it.

The interest is there based upon the number of Ren/Studio users subscribing to You Tube tutorials.

Anyway....

I spent some time last night thinking about a solution to the problem, and then realised that there isn't actually a problem that needs solving (IMO).

This entire 'MPC Ren' forum is about sharing knowledge, be it in direct response to someone's call for help, or just people choosing to post up tips and tricks. So if you have a tip, trick or tutorial to share, please share it here in the main forum.

It's not like we get 100s of posts a day in the Ren forum, we get on average less than 10 posts a day, maybe 3 or 4 new topics a day. It's simply unnecessary to have all these little sub forums micro-categorizing everything to the point where each sub forum gets 2 or 3 posts a week.

One thing I have changed my mind about is regarding videos - if you have a tip or tutorial to share, just post it up in a new dedicated topic, not in the video compilation topic. Again, prefix the topic title with 'Tip' or 'Tutorial' etc. Then we can have a dedicated discussion about that tutorial in it's own topic, effectively hosted by the person who created the tutorial. It would be nice to keep this to actual tips and tutorials, and not some bloke just going 'Wassup, here's me making a beat in a dark room' - if you must post this stuff, put it in Hellfire's video topic.

As I said before, the last thing I want is the Ren forum to become fragmented. We simply do not get enough posts to warrant this kind of categorization, I feel it's more important that we have a single hub of activity. So basically, having a dedicated tutorial sub forum is a nice idea in theory, if we were getting hundreds of posts a day with people continually posting their own tips and tricks here, but in reality I don't think it will currently work. Over time, that may change, and if it does we can reassess.

However I'm still up for listening to other ideas, maybe I missed something obvious.

That solved the 'problem' there. Allowing videos in specific threads is a great help. Nobody wants to search through a single thread of numerous unrelated videos just to find a specific tutorial video. I stopped creating and posting videos because of that.
