Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

:WTF: Ok So I sold my Maschine and I bought a Mpc Studio So far I like it I made 2 beats on it yesterday. But here comes the confusing part. The reason I bought it is because I want to be able to create my beat inside of the mpc studio software, do the arranging inside the software and the when I am done I want to export all of the parts sepearate, so I can pull it up in my main DAW Cubase. When I am in Cubase 7 I can add finishing touches and Mix the beat with all my Waves and UAD plugins, etc... Now this is where the problem lies. I have a Yamaha MX49 I dont know if you guys know what that is but its a hardware / software keyboard and midi controller / with a bult in audio interface. Anyways It has over 1500 Motif sounds inside of it that I played into the MPC software via Midi. The song is now complete but when I export all the tracks sepreatly the only tracks that bounce down are the ones that are on the drum pads, and the VST'S, Whatever I played via midi wont bounce out... Why? Do i have to record the midi that I played into the MPC sample recorder and then apply it to the pads? If so that seems like to much work and why would they allow midi devices if I cant bounce it down to audio. I took a look at the actual midi track in the mixer view and it is grayed out where you should be able to assin an output for ex: (out 1,2) (submix)

I guess no one knows. It seems like everyone is still trying to figure out how to use this mpc and software to the best of their ability. I guess it will just take time and many more updates before this bad boy will work correctly. Maybe I should trade it in and get a Maschine 2 at least it has drag and drop. SMH... The only thing I like better on the MPC Studio is the sequencer and its easier to sample.

Where is the audio of your keyboard being routed?

This the same with any DAW/Audio workstation. Hardware synths need to be bounced down in realtime, any offline bounce will not record that audio.

Since the Renaissance/Studio has no realtime bounce capabilities currently, your only option is to record the audio either into the sample record section, then assign it to a drum program and line it up with the track how it was before....or

You could also create a multisample keygroup of the synth sound (time consuming though).

Or you could track it out in time in your other DAW (Cubase).
If you want to do this, you can load the MPC as a plugin and open your project in Cubase. Then set your loop markers to be the same length as your whole song. Route the audio from your synth parts into audio tracks in Cubase. Play the song back from beginning to end while recording in Cubase.

Also trading it for Maschine would get you nowhere because Maschine has horrible MIDI implementation and can't do what you want either.

Exactly why I was asking.

Thanks for the reply at least now i know it cant be done so i will just sequence drums and VSt's for now and then bounce it to sepreate tracks, then load it into Cubase and add layers from my yamaha to add the finishing touches i think thinkgs will be simpler that way lol. Thanks again... and No I am not going to trade it. I dont know what it is but my when I lay my drums down using the MPC then just groove better to me compared to the Maschine...

Use song mode. Record different sequences or repeat the same sequence an x amount of times. Then export to seperate stems and you can do all your track mutes in your DAW

[Just talking -> Jump to [MEAT] for the good part]
Based on how the Yamaha boards are advetised captainbeats should have been able to bounce the MX49. In a real DAW (logic, cubase, sonar) the MX49 is supposed to be able to bounce all sounds just like a VST. This is not an analoge audio recording. Yes the sound is create on the keyboard but during the bounce the data is transferred via usb and converted to audio.

I'm sad to here that captainbeats was unsuccessful with the MPC Software. It was a good idea.

But I'm convinced yet. I'll keep looking.

[MEAT]
And you said you used midi...don't use a midi track use the Yamaha VST application on the plugin track to access the sounds. That is probably the key...

It still needs to real time record whilst exporting the audio over usb, even with vst
Eg
I had a motif which is similar which I used with cubase and mpc studio
Say I had some motif tracks in cubase and my drums in the mpc studio as a plug in
When I go to mix down it will play the song recording the motif tracks but u don't hear the mpc but it's there in the final mix .
this is because the sounds of the mpc are stored in your computer ,whilst in the motif the sounds are built into the keyboard
As explained the mpc software can't handle external audio

How many audio tracks can the mx49 send over usb?
Motif with FireWire did 16 mono 8 stereo ,mox49 , 4 mono 2 stereo , don't know about the moxf ,interested as I'd like to get one ,

Captain,

When you 'recorded' the motif sounds of the yamaha, you were only recording midi 'notes' not live audio. Yes, you hit play on MPC and those notes play back to the yamaha, but the sounds are on the yahama. When you mixdown or export tracks, you were getting the audio you did in the MPC.

You were given several options above and another will be to find similar sounds to those that you used in the yahama, in VSTs that you can load into MPC tracks. Still use the yahama to trigger those sounds in the MPC, so that you midi notes and audio resides in the MPC.

Sounds like you already have VSTs so I won't say check out Komplete and other VSTs that will give you many thousand sounds at your disposal.
