you are such a jackass freq, I can totally see why all you do is jump on here and whine, you want props so bad from anyone you will jump on here post pics of you and snoop and we are supposed to bow down to you?

I went to the same High school with some fools who are famous yet I feel no need to post a picture of me and them or even tell you who they are, why? cuz name droppin is for little girls trying to get into the club.

FYI for someone to want to learn from you you need to demonstrate actual knowledge not just spout numbers from "home recording for dummies" or stuff that you can find on the web in 10 seconds with google. you wanna teach? write a tutorial on basic mixdown and eqing and have the tutor post it up, he'll do it if you give it to him I bet.

lets see it......

By freq Wed Jul 16, 2003 11:28 pm
My last statement was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but apparently SOME of you can't find a little humor in yourselves.

I got props from the highest levels of tha game playa. I don't need anything from you, or anybody else on here. This website is littered with know-it-alls like you and the problem is that the Bullwinkles of the world CAN'T STAND IT when they realize that they really don't know jacc. I get pm's and emails from a GANG of cats on here that want to LEARN from someone who KNOWS WHAT IT TAKES to get to the level I WORKED MY BEHIND OFF to get to. I'm trying to help folks out, bro. I wish that somebody had told me half the game I kicc down to you guys on this website! I didn't grow up with any of the people I worked with. I'm not even from Cali playa. Like I said, I put my money (words in your case) where my mouth is and MADE it happen. Tryin to get into some club? Last time I checked, I'm a card carrying member of that club. I put my picture on here because teachers don't hide behind a mask. I figured that my seemingly arrogant statements would make more since if you could see for yourself who they're coming from. Guess not. Confidence is mistaken for arrogance by those who are not as confident...

Ah, FYI - There's no such thing as basic mixdown for me. Never has been. Think about that for awhile.

At least I don't have a picture on here of myself standing at a podium lookin like the Wizard of Oz or the wannabe High and Mighty! Get the peanut butter out of your ears. YA HEARD??????

p.s. you will NEVER out-debate me, jacc. not on recording stuff anywayz!

first of all you need to be educated to debate, Im 100% certain you are not, based solely on the asinine things you say.
YOU are far froma teacher. see the emphasis on teaching is the sharing of knowledge, NOT what you do. See YOU get off on the people asking you for advice, you enjoy telling and talking at (not to, but at) people. YOU are looking down. If you had an iota of intilligence you would realize that its not teaching if its all about YOU. Again, I dont expect your intellect to be able to comprehend this so just type the same stuff you usually do "blah blah top of the game, blah blah I'm an engineer" guess what only you care about that.

listen to yourself "I get props from the highest level of the game" "I get PM's" "I wish someone told me all this stuff I tell u for nothing"
well if we are so beneath you why answer us? its not cuz you want to teach I just checked that in the last paragraph, it goes back to you and your little Napolean complex. You care about hypin yourself, not teaching. Man I could go on and on about educational theory and how all that you say flies in the face of being a "teacher" but I honestly think you would not get it.

I dont get it?? there is no help or guidelines for how to start out mixing songs down? you are so full of crap. I found a list as long as my arm on google in 2 minutes, actually accroding to google 2.1 seconds.

yeah, you know more about recording gear then me what do you want a cookie? I do this as a hobby, and I put stuff out cuz I love the music, YOU seem awfully twisted up in making $$$$$, which is fine, but I love musuic and you simply dont seem to. but as far as debate goes, man you better take that idea and get it out of your head. I aint calling you stupid, just sayin I'm smarter. this convo is over, I have no further desire to point out inconsistencies in what you say and flat out asinine assumptions u make. good luck on the career and god bless you. :!:

"Your will ears get stronger and more tolerant with time, too. "

youre an idiot. only the inexperienced or proletariat of "engineers" would say that. like most well paid audio workers my hearing is insured as part of my work's health policy.

as ANY educated audio worker would know growing "tolerant" to sound means you are in actuality killing the sensitive cilia which forms your ability to hear. again, you show no intelligence.

"everybody fixes their own ns10s"

ahahaha. more proof you arent an engineer. its cheaper for the studios i work in to get the yamaha rep to pick them up and service then it is to order parts and WASTE TIME doing it ourselves.

and no yamaha ARE NOT still producing tweeters for the ns10s. get with the times. they have service stock and that will dwindle over time.

"behrenger sucks"

more proof you arent a REAL engineer. you are a little kid most likely who has read a few magazines. i have years both in the studios and on the road as a tech under my belt, and yes i am a Music Technology teacher too (surprise, im everything you pretend to be) and there are more Composers in use then youde realise. they are indeed a live sound mainstay. check out the live rigs of acts such as Garbage. if butch vig has a rack full of Composers what does that suggest?

the more FREQ types the more ebonics he uses as if to impress us of his cred. well too bad i dont care. snoop? pfft. man you are a lowly sycophant with poor knowledge trying to ride the coat-tails of others. you MIGHT actually write some really good music, but you have proved beyond a doubt you lack the technical knowledge to back yourself up here. bow out while you can. youre outmatched.

I do this as a hobby...

Hahaha. You don't stop, do you?

1. I think that my posts PROVE my superior intellect. Plus, you won't find a gaggle of misspelled words littering my posts - like yours. I'll challenge you anyday in a contest of mindpower. I shut down geeks like you DAILY.

2. Reading comprehension is obviously NOT your strong point. I said that there is no such thing as "basic" mixdown for ME. I guess you didn't understand that either. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt with that one, since you're from MIT and all, but....

3. Know more than you about GEAR? Ehem, it's not just gear playboy.

4. You do this as a hobby - MY POINT EXACTLY. My advice is aimed toward those who are looking to make music a CAREER.

The only people that I'm "talking down" to are the thick headed wannabees.

D-Samp -

You're making yourself look pretty stupid...

Insured hearing? THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! Just FYI - I had a hearing test a few months ago and the doctor started calling me Steve Austin afterwards.

EVERY studio in Los Angeles has a spare box of NS-10 replacement woofers, at least. Most even have spare drivers. NS-10's take less than five minutes to fix. Imagine this (if you can). Your studio has booked a client that's paying $1200 a day for your room, and during the session the engineer blows a $20 NS-10 woofer (happens all the time). Are you gonna tell him to wait until you order parts, or call a Yamaha rep to come out before he can continue to work? Hell no!!! The assistant (or in-house tech) will be on the case and have your problem fixed within minutes. So your statement about "cheaper" is null and void. Call ANY major facility in LA and ask them if they repair NS-10's in house. As a matter of fact, call ANY major facility in LA and ask them about ANYTHING that I have stated on this forum.

My Behringer comment was about gear for the RECORDING STUDIO, not the stage. Behringer gear performs terribly in a critical listening environment. Performers use all kinds of stuff on stage. Live sound and FOH is not my thing. I don't do it anymore, but I do have experience there as well (FOH at Indiana State Fairgrounds - 20,000 people).

I'm not a writer. I am a heavy metal guitarist originally, but I don't do any music for rap. I just happen to be (blessed) very good at recording and mixing it. Check my post with the pictures under the "Pro Tools" thread. Then you can put up the pictures of you in your professional environment. I'm not pretending to be a teacher. You're pretending to be an engineer, though. You're a runner or maybe an assistant. That's what you mean by "fluffing" engineer right? How can that be if you're an instructor?

sorry freq, but I dont worry about spell checking my work, this aint a paper. and NO I dont go to MIT, that pic is some dude I found when I queried my name on Google, who also calls himself Dr. Foo and I thought it was funny.

#1 if you want to delude yourself into thinking you are educated, fine. That is the trademark of the uneducated, assumption of intellect is what Paolo Friere calls it.

#2 again with the ME ME ME, you have major self esteem issue buddy.

#3 see #1 and keep thinking you are the best, smartest engineer out there, heres a ? if you are, why are you on here with us? If you are why dont you have your own studio? it seems that on the strength of being "snoops personal engineer" alone that could support a business.
what else do you know more then me about? marvel me with your intellect, lets see it.

#4 you seem to have missed the point, the point is it doenst matter if its a hobby or a career, the principles (basic) are the same, make banging tracks, the best ones you can. If this is your career, mixiing, why are you on here? trying to build a legion of fans? hahah well it wont work, 1/2 the stuff you say you pull right out of your...well you get the idea.

good god, you really think you are "teaching" dont you? man that is scary.

By D_Samp Fri Jul 18, 2003 3:51 pm
yeah foo his "me me me" is sure sign of inferiority complex.

as for the ongoing ns10 rambling of his... ahahaha. as if we use them anymore in a commercial studio. only post and project studios run by dinosaurs tolerate them these days, they are a liability. if a speaker blows, a backup pair comes from the store-room, which is standard procedure worldwide.

"Insured hearing? THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! Just FYI - I had a hearing test a few months ago and the doctor started calling me Steve Austin afterwards. "

yes, of course our hearing is insured. dont you americans have workplace health and safety cover? well suck shit if something blows your hearing and you get nothing. as for the steve austin thing... well whoever that is. yet more empty bravado from your pointless ramblings.

as proved by your "i will beat anyone" comment you are simply arguing bullshit for the sake of it here, without any real grasp of the facts.

and seeing as freq's arguing has sunk as low as spelling errors, he's obviously just a lonely little boy who needs internet "victories" to enhance his poor self esteem.

no peace to freq and his world of bullshit

what? thats wrong man, how do you know he is a "go-fer" he seems to know his stuff money.

again, Go get ME, ME, ME, ME

self esteem again.....
maybe if you cut your hair, or at least combed it out so it was even...

but in all seriousness, I used to "like" your posts, in as much as one can come to enjoy the company of a person on a website, and you did help me out with some of the stuff you said, but ur attitude is so coarse its enuff to make someone just go look it up for themself. you remind me of Nicks on the Asis website.

what about it tho freq? why dont you just get a business plan, have snoop hook u up with a bank (or one of the 3 million banks he must deal with) and have them give you a loan (someone of snoops clout, all he has to do is ask and they'll do it, based upon his balance sheet and their desire to keep him happy) and open a studio and advertise yourself as having snoop dogg as your main client? you would make a killing, so why not?

i'm no-one special, i'm a budget person, and i've got spirit absolute 2s because 2 of some other hip hop people in sydney, where i live, use them and have brought out tight sounding mixes on their releases. I also heard them in a hip hop store, they have them so they can reveal what a mix sounds like of peoples demos. They seem like the right ones for me and the website shows a pretty flat frequency curve. Was the original post about bang for buck? Also, just say these monitors werent the mack daddy,(please tell me what you guys have heard about them) I would still get used to how other hip hop mixes sound them, and correlate the characteristics to my mixes. They do me fine. Express yourself.

Okay, we all seem to have forgotten the original question so I'll lock this thread as it's starting to sound like a school playground.
