MPC Power Adapters

Do all MPCs use the same power adapters?

I own an MPC1000 and I'm considering buying a 2000 but I would like to know if they both use the same power adapter.

the 2000 doesn't use an adapter... it's just a standard cable (ie: the actual power supply is inside the mpc) so it's one of those regular power cables like what you find on a PC, computer monitor, most studio monitors, etc... I believe actually it is the same thing on the 1000... but the 500 uses a wall wart (power block that hangs on the wall)

Sorry, by power adapter I meant power cable. Are they both the same?

yes it is the same as that.. you can get those cables for like a buck at a thrift store... or you might even have a spare one in your bag of wires sitting in the closet. I am pretty sure all mpcs other than the 500 and the new controller ones take that same cable.

2000/2000XL/1000/2500/4000/5000 and I would guess a 60 or 3000 use a standard 3 prong 10amp 125v 1250watt cord if you're in N.America or Japan.

Like mr_debauch said same as any standard PC or LCD monitor cable and so on.

I use the same plugs on 4 of the above listed MPC's and it's same one on my ASR-10 and audio monitors.

I also have another question you guys might be able to answer.

I live in Australia and the MPC2000 I'm looking at on eBay is from the US, will I be able to simply use an Australian power cable of will I need to get some sort of converter or something?

Seems like you just need a cord suited for Australia the way I read it. Or maybe you already have one lying around if it's just the AUS version of the common plugs we use over here.

That's an example but I'm sure you can find a cheaper one from a vendor in Australia.

I'm assuming the part that plugs into the MPC is the same but the wall socket part is different.

yeah on the 2000 classic you just need the right cable that fits in the back... same one as the 1000.. you just plug that in... no need for a converter on that model.

MPC60 has either a captive mains lead (older US or Canadian models) or uses a 2-pin mains lead, unless its been modified to use a three pin lead like other MPC's. Same deal with the ASQ10, S950, MG614, MG1214 and older Roland drum machines. This is because those machines are double insulated, hence no grounding in the plug.

yeah my 60 uses the same 3 prong cable as the other mpcs... except it's fixed for north america at 120v/60hz... doesn't have the auto switching like the 2000
