If I'm understanding the question at all...

It's normal for the first few seconds that a colored LCD starts up for the contrast to be wrong, after the boot up part that displays the amount of installed memory it switches to a contrast setting you can read/however you set the contrast before the last shutdown.

This is normal on the black LCD's and it would seem like the blue ones too. It still says the same amount of RAM you had it's just hard to read when the contrast isn't right until right before the main screen displays.

Yes, good to know that someone can understand it.
I would have thought it crashed during install. :hmmm:
My blue screen also comes in a highlight of pixel errors. Is a very small white spot light. I installed a blue screen of mpc stuff.com

Somehow the display is not fast enough to turn with. it does not respond immediately, as for example the orignal green display
Interesting that probably the black lcd screen seems to be affected.

My black and white ones from MPCStuff have no LCD refresh issues or lag. They've been the same as the green ones. The waiting for the contrast to correct itself before the Main screen comes on is the only problem, and it really doesn't make any difference.

I have no pixel errors but the backlight does seem brighter than the green OEM Akai ones, and isn't totally even, but again no real issue, I just notice it.

I love the black one I can read it from 6-10 feet away even on extreme side angles. The white is good too, but the black is more readable from a distance overall.

I have JJOS-XL on both these machines, so maybe your LCD refresh lag is OS specific, you didn't say what OS you have installed.
