Yeah you right, I'm still in the process of downloading additional content samples loops library and yada, yada. But you are right I haven't seen one Redmatica sign in the software yet and I still have the old sampler maker on my hardware. My I wish I have bought that Autosampler when I had the chance!

So far I love how they simplied the midi effects aka environment tools and the routing. Still a lot of it looks like the old instrument in a kind of 64 bit wrapper.

On first glance, the auto accompaniment drummer instrument seems a bit weird for a Pro app.

I might even buy it if it had the Redmatica Autosampler in it

Autosampler is already 'out there'...

Keymap Pro is the killer app from those fellas though. I don't think any of that technology has made it into Logic X.

I thought so too. I read where a few people were gushing and giving praise to that feature but I haven't bothered with it yet, even though I downloaded the content. However, people seem to buy up a lot of 3rd-party products that do a similar thing for more than what one pays for Logic itself, so maybe we just don't get the draw of those types of products.

I'm pretty sure it could be used creatively though.

I didn't see any mention of the EXS24 sampler being updated at long last. Did I miss something there?

I just realised that I started this thread nearly 2 years ago.

Nope you didn't! But the library has been updated and the smart controls makes it easier to control from a keyboard controller. I wish they would have done the legacy gui interface for es2, Ultrabeat, exs24, and others like the new Retro synth and electric keyboards to condense everything. The new Rhodes is a hell of a lot better with the effect settings preset. Damn I felt like Micheal McDonald on that thing. I'm not so keen on the new garagebandest look but the mixer is definitely larger with an easier to read monitoring.


Believe it or not he sound it better too. I mean I had been using logic 9 in 32bit cuz I have a lot of my soft synths from Korg and others in 32 bit and I hated the wrapping crap. Now that logic x all 64bit I fortunately in a timely fashion had all of my plugins freely upgrade to 64 bit reloaded a old logic 9 track and it was banging harder And fuller.

@Coz I tried to buy the Autosampler after you send me your excellent kit by the way but the site down and that program is nowhere to be found. We all were hoping that apple would intergrate it into logic x. Or maybe that will sell it as a standalone like Mainstage?

I searched high and low for Autosampler with the intention of buying it. No joy but it popped up elsewhere. If Apple suped up exs24 with Keymap Pro capabilities I'd give it serious consideration.

Absolutely. It's not as readable or rich as the new Pro Tools 11 metering options or Cubase/Nuendo's, to me, but definitely a step in the right direction. I wonder if it's a bit too optimistic in thinking that they just may update ESX24 and address a few major remaining gremlins with a point upgrade like they did with FCP X. Overall, it's a nice update but doesn't seem like 4yrs worth.

The strange thing with Apple even though they are a HUGE company, is that they continually move all their programmers around from job to job. There's probably been nobody within the company who has continually worked on Logic for the last 4 years.

It seems like maybe a 1yr of work. That's not to say the update sucks but just that some things feel rushed, like the mix of new and old UX and GUI elements, lack of ESX24 improvements, and the size of the channels and readability on larger monitors — though improved. It can get a bit ridiculous and cause quite a bit of squinting on 27" and 30" displays, to me. Some of the new things are very nice, especially the ease of MIDI Fx and workflow enhancements. I still wish for real stereo panners instead of a level balancing control though and the ability to rearrange mixer channels directly in the mixer (without resorting to the Environment or track list).
