Oh ok. Haven't heard of that law. Kinda odd for GC to display an item for sale that a consumer has to wait a little over a month to pick up.

I used to live in Cali, and I think it is a really wacky law out there.

I went to sell a piece of gear one time, and they were like "we can't pay you for like 30+ days..."

I was like well you can't buy my gear then, but you care to explain that ish?

They said "we need 35 days to run the gear through all police reports in x amount of counties for x amount of miles"

I was like or you could just call up my name in your computer and see $3000 of sales and that I bought if from this very store.

"No sorry that's not gonna work..."

I'm in NYS now and there's no such hindrance on selling to a GC you get paid on the spot, someone will likely be able to buy it the next day once the person with the authority prices it.

well we know they are making money selling at 499.... I wonder what they paid dude who brought it in and sold it. 75 bucks?

No more than $200-$250 I'm sure and that's estimating high. No one low balls like a GC.

Typically it's 50%, 60% if the item is clean.
Also depends on what they find as the going rate when they do their price checking.

The OP bought the MP. I don't have that kind of patience. It took 8 days(train derailment) for UPS to send me a piece of equipment and by the 7th day I was almost bouncing off the walls waiting for it.

No he didn't they can't actually sell it until after that timeframe.
They aren't even supposed to display it until it's released.
What they normally do is if they want to sell it for more or are unable t sell it they just say they found an issue with it and call it broken.
Then it's relisted at a later date.

to me it sounds like the unit was barely used
and final price was ment to be 1499$ when heavily used units go for 1200- 1300 or so at armens.
499$ sounds definitly like a faulty price to me

35 days is ridiculous. It also seems weird that they sold it to me already. Wouldn't they keep it in inventory until the serial number clears, then sell it? It's strange as ****.

Either way, I paid for it. I have a receipt. And I tested the unit out so it's going to be hard to use the excuse it is was originally broken. Especially when there isn't a single person in the GC that knows how to even get the thing "to make sounds". I guess they could say someone spilled diet cherry coke on the **** in the back and broke a bunch of buttons off it while moving inventory. Now that I think about it, that will probably happen.

You never see prices like that at GC and never use Armens as a price reference he high.
He didn't always be that way I remember a few year back I got a clean 60mk1 with v3 and memory for less than $500 from him and had always gotten great deals from him even when he worked at Rogues.
He also rebuilt my 808 for me back in the 90s really cheap.

I just think GC is flooded with stuff they have trouble moving.
They have a real abundance of used Renaissance units that they are trying to get around $700 for that people aren't jumping on.
Eventually they will have to drop them even lower to get them out the way.

They typically sell 4ks from $500 to 700 with $650 be more toward the norm.
The will have higher price ones but they are the ones without cards or the blue units.

If you have been watching eBay there have been a lot of working 4ks that sold for less than $500 and they seem to have been as described since the seller feedback did show otherwise.
It's funny because you see people on eBay trying to sell broke or bad screen 4ks for $600+ .

I have seen them do it many times at the beach.
They will tell the person it's in the service department with an issue.

Sadly enough no matter what they tell you all they owe you is a refund.

Don't get me wrong I hope they deliver but there's potential for them not to.

I know I'm late to the party but congrats! I got mine a few months ago and I love it. Been working on a project so not much time to read or post but it's good to see the 4k love is still in full swing here. OP got a serious price for sure. Here's hoping GC honors the deal and doesn't back out.
