I'd rather have the original if I had to choose. Ntalec is right. You can hear that it was redone if you listen closely, it's not a sample, plus modern engineering techniques on top of that.

Back then I wasn't even slightly versed in compression I just did whatever. 2kxl, layer 2 kicks and 1 subkick, mess with the resonance and volume on each, post eq processing in sony vegas makes my kicks hard like that (very subtly or you can easily destroy a kick unless that's the feel want). It's not hard to do, you just gotta try alot of stuff in order to get what you want. Layering can make alot of stuff more robust.

Combine shit and transcend that "1 function per sound" thinking that alot of people seemed to be trapped in.
