It could be, if leaving your fingers on the 2500 pads, after the initial hit, were sensed by the 2500 as having the pad held down, versus more force required to be sensed as a held pad on the Renaissance, meaning maybe the fingers left on the pad after the initial hit were not sensed on the Renaissance, it could appear to be a difference in the way note repeat works.
But anyway, having it not trigger a sound sometimes on the first 'hit', if that hit doesn't occur exactly on a timing correct division, and then triggering on a second hit, if that hit does occur exactly on a timing correct division, sounds like the correct operation of the note repeat function...to me anyway, you have it in front of you, so maybe there are issues beyond normal note repeat functionality.
