i wrote this a while back.. maybe it can shed some light...
Wow weeee , ok heres what the verdict is.
i took the mpc 4000 and rigged it to my syquest 230 drive (which i use to store to my mpc 60 stuff ), since the 4000 doesnt use regular scsi it uses that lil scsi 2 crap i had to rig it in a chain with some old computer crap i found. the 4000 found the drive, but couldnt load the sounds. dif f format like u guys said.
Well i connected the syquest to my mac and wala it showed up , but only in OS X, OS 9 wasnt finding the drive. I dropped the files into my audio HD on my mac, nad burned to cd.
I took the old snd. format files from my mpc 60 ( CD I burned )and batched them to awave and converted the old snd. files to a newer snd. format.
hooked my mpc4k to the PC and in aksys. droped them into my HD.. whew what a hastle... but i got it dont for the most part. thing is now...
Another prob, since i have the syquest cartridge partitioned into almost 8 partitions ( letters A thru H ) there are files in the syquest i cant get access to since my mac only reads the first partition.
So now i have to go to the mpc 60 load each partition and sounds then swap disks to get them on the a diff disk with one partition.... i guess its well worth it since i have so much crap on the disks but .. man what a frikken hastle.. thanks again for the help. now once I have everyhting on my mpc4k i'll have to burn the backup of the HD to cd, im sure that will be just as interesting.... maybe ill do that on my mac or pc... just need to get the correct format.. i heard the mac is a lil easier.....
