MPC60/S3000 or MPC3000/S950

There was a similar thread some time ago, but people started recommending MPC4000, then someone asked a technical question and the thread kind of died....

Let's say we're comparing fully upgraded (ram, os and scsi) MPC60/S3000 and MPC3000/S950 ...... which set-up do you think would be better and why?

all preferance, but mine would be the 3k/s950 (thats my setup) and i dont have to mess with sequencing the s950 cuz i just resample my drums through that, then save everything in the 3k and sequence it all internally (nice and quick i might add), and am able to save it all to 1 pgm/disk.

Wouldn't resampling the drums from S950 into the 3000 defeat the whole purpose of having a 12-bit sampler?

Who gives a shit. Just do music. Nobody can tell the difference between bits. But for me personally, i cant use s series samplers. They're the defintion of user unfriendly, not to mention outdated. And the 3000 is way more flexible than the 60 with no noticeable loss of "grit" the 60 is a dinosuar with none of the benefits of a SP1200.

Anybody else wants to give me his opinion on my original question?

id go mpc3000 and s950 if given the choice...

I use the 3k combined with my S950. It's great and you will love it. You can pick up a S950 for pretty cheap but 3k's are gonna run you.

3K, no need for a 950.

i say 950s are nice no matter what else you got...

Seems like everyone would prefer MPC3000/S950 so far.

If you dont like s950 u might try a yamaha tx 16 w.
12 bit also, sounds cool to me and you can get them mad cheap.
I paid about 60 Euros for mine. It is equippped with 1,5 MB stock which
should be enough for drums I think. Just make sure you wont use the standart Yamaha OS. Just download Typhoon 2000 for free and be done.

Shit my man I'll post up some drums sequences from the 3K, sampled with no compressors, no nothing, straight from vinyl through a little vestax to the 3K, and it will kill any idea you might have that a 12 bit sampler is nice to have or will make your drums thump harder. 3K is the truth on drums.

I wasn't necessarily thinking 12-bit would be "better" for drums. I was just wondering if having both 12 and 16 bit samplers would be beneficial.

The good thing about the 950 is the filters, it's worth getting one just for that. I don't know about the 3000 but the 2000XL filters are garbage compared to the S950 and S1000.
