Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey Everyone! When I connect my USB to my laptop (hp Probook 4520's, Windows7, 4GB RAM.. blah blah), my next step is to hit on my MPC mode> load or save> scroll til I get to USB, then it switches from not connected, to connected, my computer recognizes it, makes the USB detected sound. But the MPC gets stuck right there! I can hit any key or pad, no budging, stays there, I scroll; no movement. Then I unplug te USB (from behind the MPC or from the computer) then the MPC works again: I can maneuver through it normally. Plug it back in, then go back to mode>save> USB, I watch it switch to USB connected and it stays stuck there again! No way of getting to another screen on the display, loading something, doing anything actually. I even try scrolling super fast past the "USB:", nope stays stuck

That's intresting, so if I wanted to record a baseline I'm creating on my MPC to an open project in Reason, I have to use cables and a sound interface?

Question 2: is it possible to transfer my baseline to my computer by USB, somehow retrieve it and "paste" it on Reason (is that the intent of using the USB?)

Yes, read the manual, this part in particular...

In this section, you will learn how to record the same signal found on the STEREO OUT of the MPC500. With this feature, you can add the effects to the recorded sample and re-record it, or you can record the phrase that you created with the sequence feature as one sample.
