What's up everyone.
I was just wondering what method do you all use to organize your drum samples, I hear some people say that they have 10,000-20,000 drum samples and that just seems insane trying to find the right kick or snare, so I was just curious as to how you do it.
I have a bunch of drum samples and the extent of my drum organization is folders for kick, snare, hit hats, ect. but it still takes forever to find the right drum sample sometimes and I end up losing my vibe.

Well.. I basically took a day out and pick through 80 gigs of drums... I set up a club program where i grab the best 16 808's, 32 kicks, 32 snares, 16hats, and 32 claps.. then i set up another kit for my soulful samples which consist of 32 kicks, 32 snares, 16 hats, and 32 claps.... Then I set up a kontakt plugin with studio drummer, 50's drums, 60 drums, or addictive drummer so I can get that live drum feel when I need it.

That makes sense, it seems like your method if nothing else will allow me to have a familiarity with the different drum sounds by grouping them together in kits as you described (16 808s, 32 kicks, ext.). Thanks for your input, it is very much appreciated.

highcaliba wrote:No problem man.. And it also helps you create a signature sound since your able to customize, manage and tweak a smaller library of drums... and before you know it you have a sound that knocks that nobody has..

Cool.
