MPC 500: unknown file format (for ableton wav files)

Hi guys,

Been messing around with Ableton since a long time, and just bought me an MPC500 a few days ago. Already found a huge treasure of information on this forum

I chopped a few samples in Ableton and exported them as wav files to load in MPC. I made sure they are 16 bit and 44.1Hz format.
I get the unspecfified file format error when trying to load them into a MPC program or assigning them to pads. Strange thing is that if I hit play button in Load mode, the samples are played correctly.

Any ideas?

BTW, do you have the memory upgrade (128MB) or the factory default (16MB)?

Strange thing is that the problem seems to occur random. Exporting audio from the same file in the same ableton project with all the same exporting parameters sometimes gives working samples in my mpc and sometimes the unknwon file format error.
First I tough that only mono samples worked, but there again some mono samples work other don't.

The randomness might suggest a memory problem. Switch off your MPC500, open up the memory hatch on the bottom, touch something metal (radiator, computer case etc) and remove the memory expansion, put it somewhere safe. Reboot and see if the problem is fixed.
