I dont think this is a real skin, he did a photoshop work on a static image/screen shot.

Making a real skin would mean reprogramming the software or at least the graphic code.

Their quite different jobs, photoshop vs programming...

Hoping akai is listening...maybe next Ren all black within dark grey inserts/finishes and a GUI like this one.

While this new skin looks nice, I don't think the current look of the software requires any major changes at the moment. It is actually easy to read and not hard on the eyes during extended use.

Your skills to create this new skin is impressive.

Its been proven that light text on a darker background is much less stressful on the eyes. Thats why almost all Pro industry standard software has changed to it. Photoshop, Illustrator, Logic. Much better and much easier to read. Even this very forum ;O))

Now this is impressive. You should get hired.
Some optional skins would be dope – but before that, the focus should be on getting all the functions in order.
But yeah, all up for this one – or at least for the ability to change skins!

This forum is displayed in shades of grey like the MPC Software...at least on my monitors. Additionally, doesn't Pro industry standard software you speak of allow users to change the color of backgrounds/texts?

to be honest i think the hardware also needs a serious re-design.

im not saying it should be like maschine but it certainly should take some of its minimal and simplistic characteristics and employ them for future versions of the MPC.

what im saying is that as nice as it is to make you feel like youre using an old MPC it feels dull, outdated and cluttered.

the screens should also be way more interesting and graphic like the OP-1 (http://www.teenageengineering.com/products/op-1)

too many buttons, encoders, options, sub options....

software and hardware needs a simply, clean, modern re-design...

yea... and then the Ren will go for like $2000 lol

Doing anything to change the classic MPC hardware would have turned off a lot of MPC users; it would have certainly turned me off. Akai consulted with a lot of producers in its design.

Personally, I would have made the Ren slightly larger and heavier and wouldn't mind the extra costs. Any reduction in dedicated buttons, encoders is a no, no. And I certainly don't think things such as touch screen, ribbon controllers, or anything similar have any business being on an MPC. The MPC is perfect as is....

That looks so much better than the original GUI imo.

I think the skin is very nice. This type of thing in so subjective that the only right answer is commital. Either I can choose from a huge bucket of skins, or I can't choose any.

This should be way low on the list of enhancements but is a very exciting proposition.

If optional skins were never added I would be fine. And If they were added, I would be happy about that and probally use them.
