So how many of you ACTUALLY dig?

At one of my historical haunts I placed a labeler sticker on the shelf that said "respect the crates" as if it was put there by an employee. No one else was digging there but they had a lot of cheap, good records. I'll drop a fat hint if anyone's in the Bay Area: Half Price has several stores, but the one with the most records and the best prices is the one in Concord.

Man I love digging. It's not like going through music now where everything is digital and on a screen, it's right out in front of you. You always find stuff you would never have expected to, and discover a lot of music you end up listening a lot to. You find inspiration in those crates.

I'm now getting into my 45s from charity shops. Copped far too many shit LPs

i don't dig on ebay digging cause it feels too easy - like a magic digging request machine - unless maybe yer buying lots.

I only dig nowadays at charity/recycle stores.
Lp cost a euro and you can find some amazing stuff there.
French lp from the late sixties, Italian western movie soundtracks,
weird early eighties stuff from the UK.

And when I don't know what kind of music it is but if the cover of the LP is dope
I am gonna buy it anyway.

Hi first time writer, long term lurker from the shadows.
I like all the diggin talk here and yes indeed i do dig myself.

Iam from Copenhagen, Denmark. and we dont actually have to many diggin spots but there are a few, but those store knows what records are worth.

But a couple of times each year one of those stores have a warehouse sale for the used records, cds etc where you can buy 200 records for like 30 - 40 buck or something like that without actually knowing the currency.
There is alot of crap amongst that but a few gems for my personal taste.
But nothing rare.

We also have a couple of small shops that sell out 45s but they have no idea how to take care of those records, i found a crate really cheap but didnt get it because i saw that the crate had been sitting outside the store in the hot sun and also some rainy days so they were ruined.

I dont dig for anything special, i do look for labels, genre artist but also cool covers that capture me (yes ive gotten burned on those)

I dont have a turntable but I sample the shit out of tapes lol. I just try to stay away from digital digging because for some reason I can never find any real gems that way

It's harder for people to understand digging thanks to the Internet.
There's just so much info flying around snitchin' on the source of samples that people miss the real point.

Go back to the early days before there was things like who sampled or tons of break records and you will experience the "Oh Sh*t" moment.
It was the moment you found that sample you didn't know the name of or that you didn't know existed.

It's pure crack and you start living for it cause no matter what you do........................ "it just be calling you".

Funny part is once your collection gets large enough you actually get into re-digging, meaning you actual go back through your collection and find stuff you missed.

I dig. I just hit the goodwill in my home town last week.

Just blindly bought a stack of records off the net just based on how cool the covers and instruments in them. I guess you can call that dipping (Digging + Shopping).

I decided I'm not buying stacks of "possibles" anymore. I had too much b.s with no value! I almost threw 1000 records in the trash.

Got 50 Disco 7" off eBay for 1,50€ some Good stuff, some Bad stuff.

ive walked in fleas when im in a rush and literally just grabbed an entire dollar bin crate, walked out.

never looked at a hammond organ the same again.

I snatched up like 800 records or something the last time I grabbed a decent stack that wasn't me buying specifics I spotted...

now I have a **** hawaiian christmas section...



that has to be the worst record type i've come across.
