Another satisfied customer.

Got my 'Midnight Blue' display, and had no problem following the instructions supplied with the kit. Looks really nice and adds value to the old girl. Thanks Matt.

I decided to remove the old invertor while the sampler was open, just in case I need it for spares/repairs at a later stage, but you don't need to do this. So I'll point out that the the two wires (from power/to old display) are soldered to the invertor, don't try to pull them out. I removed the invertor/old display complete with attached wires after undoing the two screws which hold it in place.

Menco wrote:Those are the same displays, but a different seller. There are a few shady guys on ebay trying to sell replacement parts for mpc's and other samplers. This add looks like one of them. Seriously, contact matt personally.

So, if it's the same LCD display for less price , why contact Matt personally?
These "shady" guys on ebay are scammers or it's just you don't like them?

@MisterWhite

Just discovered your LCDs last week.. awesome stuff man! This will def change the mood/vibe when making music :) ...easier and calmer on the eyes (less straining)

When I have extra cash..I will def buy it for my S950

But are these colors available on the MPC60 too? It would look soo dope to have the mpc60 with a black screen with green/blue/acid-yellow text :D

They are probably scammers. The screens were personally modified by Matt to fit the S950. It's a bit coincidental that a guy in France sells exactly the same screens with the same description. I'm not 100% sure, but there is something fishy going on. Read this thread:

I just spoke with the guy via ebay. He told he sources the LCD displays at the same place where Matt sources them. He told he can have all the colors that Matt have and more colors that he don't sell.
He tell that the display are 100% compatible and no modification is made by Matt or him.

His words : "The ones who are speaking about modification are lying. The LCD need a lead to be soldered with a 2 pin connector for the leds and a pin header where the s950 ribbon cable is plugged. This is not a modification"

Installed a red+black one on my s950 today.
Easy to install – no soldering (only de-soldering of the old one [you could also clip the wires]). The picture does not do justice; the display is very sharp and my pic is so blurry.

Got it from Retroillumination: https://www.facebook.com/illuminator808 ... arget_id=0

Thanks :) They are easier on the eyes for sure. A tough to read display is really the only drawback, for me, with theS900/S950. I wish I could make it available for other units like the MPC60/3000 but there is a lot of work and cost involved to get a similar display up and running for those units. Don't rule it out though, I'm certainly looking into it :)

Thanks you fellas, it's great to see such kind words.

@The Frenchman - I'm all for competition, and the last thing I would ever do is attack your friend's products. Having said that, I'd like to address an important point, mon ami :)

Here is a photo of my 'ocean blue' display, the equivalent to your friend's model:
Image

I'm not talking about the picture quality or the contrast or lighting, I just want to address one thing, something you cannot hide with any camera:

I want to ask, why are your friend's displays brighter on one side than the other? If indeed we both source our displays from the same supplier, and no modifications are needed, our two displays should look exactly the same, shouldn't they? But they don't. How could this be?

Not wanting to post your friend's photos without his permission, people can see photos of his efforts by clicking on the ebay link you provided. To the untrained eyeball, your friends display may appear fine. But they are noticably brighter on one side.

I think people can judge for themselves how they prefer to spend their money.

I offer my displays because I love samplers and I am a display freak. I don't do it to get rich quick, because that won't ever happen selling displays. I am poor and I live on Pot Noodles and roll-your-own cigarettes. But I'm happy, mainly because my customers are happy. This is how happy I am:

:-D

Until you live on Pot Noodles and rolling tobacco, and spend each day dreaming of displays, you will never truly understand the beauty of such things. What may be 'a bit brighter on one side' to one man, may be a hideous carbuncle, an optical monstrosity, to another.

And let us all live in peace and harmony and enjoy our samplers :)

Best regards,

Matt

PS. I have a couple more colour varieties, I will be showing those very shortly.
